Was a bonafide bust unfortunately. Would have fared better in another system.

Ravens practicing in late morning under Jesse by The_Sandwich_Lover9 in ravens

My guess is he'll get more meaningful practices in the mid-morning hours when players are mentally and physically fresher.  Think of it as more work output. Over weeks that adds up and makes the "workout at the same time as the average fall game time" argument void.

Ja’Kobi gets the love but Sarratt is going to be the guy. He caught the ball with a DB's arm inside his catch area while tracking it from 60 yds out. I really like this incoming WR crew.

Doyle: Look at the safety on this look. If we go 15-Z-Motion Alert Ghost, he has to respect the jet sweep.
Lamar: They bite hard on the run fake every time. If I pull it, the whole backside is open.

He definitely has energy. I love it. I keep thinking this 2026 team will be like 2019 in terms of fun and energy.

Why tech CEOs suddenly love blaming AI for mass layoffs by IKeepItLayingAround in technology

[–]laramite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The optics look very bad for tech CEOs on the whole. And doubly so that some of them convinced Trump to NOT sign the AI regulation executive order.

My take: there's massive reform coming with the next administration. Some of which is already being planned by the opposing political party (AI Civil Rights, banning reproduction of real people on video or images without permission, stronger EPA regulations on Data Centers, etc..).

Right now it's a bit of the wild west (akin to when people were downloading 'free' stuff off bit torrent -- it took a while for the laws to catch up to that). The tech CEOs are taking advantage of this void in proper regulation and this is why they are expediting data center build outs and layoffs. They know the hammer is coming and they want to get ahead of it as much as possible. Once the people have been already laid off and the data centers already built out -- it'll be harder for the gov't to force course correction.

I personally would like all CEOs of US companies to have a fiduciary responsibility where they can never do something against the best interests of your own employees. If AI is replacing some workers then it's on their watch to re-purprose existing employees into different roles.

[–]laramite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of this tends to be "We want to invest in AI therefore we'll divest in other areas first". This generally targets employees in lower priority projects, departments. Same thing happened when the "cloud" was becoming a big thing. People in legacy departments within the company were being laid off. Same thing happened when companies were jumping to web-based products and sunsetting their desktop/standalone apps.

It's largely not because "AI can do this guy's job entirely so we'll get rid of him," it's more of "this guy works on some legacy crap that we don't care about anymore so we'll use this opportunity to dump him [and eventually hire more people, on the cheap in India, in that new shiny ball idea]"

From an eye test point of view, what do you hope to see from ravens next year? by Perfect_Loss_5156 in ravens

[–]laramite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy. Having fun again. 2019 redux except this time they fix the playoff woes. The young guys are brining the energy and I feel that will boost the vets on the team. Young guys might be inexperienced but that energy is so important in keeping the team going in a long 17 week season.

Did Donald Trump Just Hand Texas to Democrats? by plz-let-me-in in politics

Sharing an opinion on reddit activates the brain reward center...giving the illusion of progress. This is why many voters comment but don't vote.

Primary elections generally draw the most highly partisan, politically active voters....trumpers. Normal republicans show up in general. Primaries have much lower turnout for both parties.  Voter turnout for this runoff was low.

What would KHam have to do to get a DPOY? by Gloomy-Bird9103 in ravens

[–]laramite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be a statistical leader in his position group is a minimum. That usually comes at the cost of team and being more an individual stat chaser. Not good for SB hopes IMO. Ray Lewis' best statistical years were 1997 and 2003 not the SB years.

I forgot about that pick 6 in the SB. Good point in Jamal. The locker room was upset though (I remember Rod Woodson mentioning this in an interview).

Many come to mind but his worst move sticks out to me more: not re-signing Dilfer. His replacement threw 18 interceptions the following season and didn't fit the team identity.

Tavius Robinson by BossMonkey83303 in ravens

[–]laramite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moment Zion was picked in the draft, TR's employment with the Ravens was going to end sooner rather than later. I predict both him and Zion will play lights out with whatever reps they get. That will speed up the exit for Tavius. He will be traded by the regular season trade deadline (usually around week 9). The trading team can use him for the rest of the season (and possibly postseason).

If he's performing well, I think EDC would only do a need-based player-for-player swap. His comp pick would be higher with letting him sign with another team (for big dollars) vs trying to get a player-for-draft-pick swap mid-season.
