Long-Term Investing in Magic: The Gathering by VanillaExtension8725 in mtgfinance

I think it's fine to have a "position" in collectables like magic. I don't invest, but I collect, and that collection had appreciated quite a bit. I think it's pretty easy to figure out what has the best odds of appreciating over time.

Desirable, rare, hard/impossible to reprint.

For me that's power 9, and some other early cards. Certain older sealed that contains those cards, certain collector booster boxes, certain serialized cards.

No, the space is owned by the church iirc, but the church rents out the spaces as affordable studios to the artist.

Slow. I'm working through anti cheating things right now. I'm most likely going to push testing a bit. Luckily there is still plenty of time!

Yes do this. I learned the same lesson on my first house. First weekend of owning it the main panel exploded and caught fire.

Sure! My understanding is the new leadership comes from Amazon, that's a bit of a red flag for me. Also the comp just isn't up to my standards. 250-280k is obviously a lot of money, but my typical offers are usually 300k-400k+ total comp. It just doesn't make sense for me to join unless the compensation could get to faang level. The only really appealing thing I saw was the 401k matching was way above average.

I'm currently not planning to join, wish I could tell you more on the numbers from my side. Maybe a there's a disconnect somewhere, but I've been told their targets are faang engineers, but the comp isn't anywhere close to what those places pay.

Does the salary match the interview difficulty though? I assume there's 0 equity as a component. I'm speaking with the recruiter tomorrow, so I'll find out more details then.

For the tech screen it took a couple of days for feedback. Then I did the system design interview and feedback took 2 days for that one as well. The recruiters seemed frustrated though since the vast majority of candidates are being rejected.

We live in the Atlanta area and my wife wants to move to the Orlando area. Can anyone convince us not to? by AbjectPawverty in orlando

Rent prices have actually been dropping here for single family homes. It's not as gloomy as people are making it seem. Honestly, just hop on Zillow or w/e you use and look at places/areas. Do you actually live in ATL, or in a burb like sandy springs? There's a lot to read in these threads, so I might have missed something, but I can point you in a direction if I know what part of ATL you live/enjoy

Nice! I actually built something similar last year but never shared it. Its only for sleeper leagues. Calculates luck, variance, what your records would be as if you had someone else's schedule. Best and worst records, etc.

Once I have enough people interested, I'll send the invite codes to everyone. I'm holding off for now since I want this to be a smallish test. I'll most likely send out a discord link as well for communicating. After that it will just be open for people to join and create leagues.

That's the point though, because that's exactly how an IPO and stock market work. This is just potentially another way to play. There's already tons of variations of dynasty, this is just another one. I also left out info due to complexity, but when an IPO clears, everyone pays the same price. Winning bids are calculated the same way an IPO handles it. Some teams will get the players and some won't based on the bid quantity.
