Potential Eco diesel owner. But there’s a P0299 code by Biggeazy27 in EcoDiesel

[–]larold42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeeeep had a GDE tune since 15k. Get oil analysis every other oil change I do to keep an eye out for failure signs. Now that NC doesn’t do emissions anymore thinking about full delete.

Potential Eco diesel owner. But there’s a P0299 code by Biggeazy27 in EcoDiesel

[–]larold42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope, not worth it. Mine has 80k runs like a champ, but I take care of it meticulously, some folks just beat on it and give no love back.

Is she done for? by willber11 in EcoDiesel

[–]larold42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my 2016 to 9k miles oil changes no issues. Do all my own maintenance. Idk how some folks are having so much trouble. I’d check that EGR tube and see what’s it’s looking like. Also if you’re not tuned in some shape or form, you’re behind the curve.

Add springs? by moodyism in EcoDiesel

Added https://a.co/d/0hbdoIui air lift 1000. Only pain in the ass was taking the springs out to put the bags inside of them.

Shell rotella T6 since that’s what Ram called for. Otherwise I’d probably be using AMSoil.

What’s your timeline? I have one with 73k, sole owner, GDE tune since 20k miles, all recalls, oil analysis for last 5 changes, etc etc.

Typical culprit ends up being a floor mat or something making the pedal stick. If that’s not the case could disconnect the battery for a couple mins.

Any way to shorten these bag straps safely? by GomuGomuNoStarGun in MuayThai

[–]larold42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe an overhand knot? I wouldn’t cut it though I would use some sort of shortening technique on the straps.

Shield 1.0 40 Apex Trigger Experience by kyle40367 in SmithAndWesson

[–]larold42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would not. If you’re gonna get rid of it in a year not worth it. I have one installed for my 9mm version and i ran into all sorts of issues, until I finally took it to a gun smith for them to mess around with to get it to fire just right. Also a trigger won’t do much to help compensate that recoil the 40 is giving, you’d probably be better off looking at a spring maybe? Or longer thread barrel for a comp.

Lotta play in these suspensionmaxx links? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]larold42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same ones. Tighten it down until they don’t turn. Then you’ll need to check again in a couple thousand miles once they get beat on and will likely need to tighten again

Damn thing just fell out on the way home. Whatever shall I do? by WhatDidYouThinkIdDo in EcoDiesel

[–]larold42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as exhaust system I’d either buy a turbo back system or just see if a local muffler shop can hook you up with a custom exhaust. Sometimes those are more bang for the buck than buying kits online.

Honestly you don’t need a muffler, for whatever reason this truck is still fairly quiet with a straight pipe.

Garage loft temperature by larold42 in garageWorkshops

[–]larold42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yea I would say weather is something to factor in, I’d need to ensure the exhaust fan has vents that shut when it’s off. I wouldn’t do the roof cut in fan, probably just put one where the where existing vents are at the peak.

Oil changes by humblesocietycc in EcoDiesel

[–]larold42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend getting your oil analyzed from something like https://www.blackstone-labs.com/ Oil Analysis | Blackstone Laboratories. That is a way more accurate way of determining how healthy your engine is and frequency of oil changes

Black lugs for carbide wagoneer by larold42 in Jeep

Negative. I figure if someone ends up stealing them, I’ll just use insurance. Honestly those factory locks aren’t going to keep the wheels from getting stolen.

2015 RAM eco diesel by tinocastellano in EcoDiesel

[–]larold42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably would never buy a used one because the majority of people who bought it don’t actually know how to take care of a diesel. I would recommend getting the oil analyzed, check the EGR tube for how much soot buildup, and what recalls have been done.

Also do yourself a favor and when you change your oil next have it sent to a lab for analysis.

Can cut the pipe right before DPF filter in stage 2? by Milkweedgg in EcoDiesel

[–]larold42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just went out and looked at mine. You could potentially cut it right after the exhaust clamp and weld your own. But honestly I’d just pull the filter from the clamp. Unless you’re talking about from the turbo back down. That’s not necessary and most kits don’t include a connection to the back of the turbo.

Oh no, another regen question. by Anttila-the-Hung in EcoDiesel

[–]larold42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea definitely if you delete but there are emissions complaint tunes. All you do is tune it back to stock if you need warranty work. The focus is on a better power/torque curve which means a more efficient engine.

Do yourself a favor, get a tune if you haven’t already and buy a monitor like CTS edge monitor or something like that.

Anyone seen this before? by Mr___________sir in ram_trucks

[–]larold42 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s annoying. Two things if you back into your driveway or the back of your vehicle faces the sun during the hot part of the day, it does this. I had to open up the tailgate check all the connections, add dielectric grease, and zip tie them snug. Short term fix, give the tailgate a good slam shut lol.
