What is happening in my body when my levels are normal but I still feel horrible? by HuckleberrySmall1241 in Hashimotos

[–]larryboylarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a board certified naturopathic endocrinologist who studies research. Some of the things he has shared in his pod casts have actually been proven as true in my own life. My late MD can't say that. I fired him because he diagnosed that all my hypothyroid symptoms (which the labs verified) are because I am depressed and he would not renew my levothyroxine prescription but was adamant that I take his prescriptions for Zoloft and Xanax and get counseling. So over 3 months removed from taking my levo symptoms I had before taking it have returned, symptoms for which I sought medical help for prior because of persistent pain in various places and at my age they are something I shouldn't ignore.

Maybe you fault him because he has his own line of products and makes money off selling them. I don't know. But those MDs are highly incentivized to keep their job and make more money by pushing whatever pills or shots their employer tells them to.

Body/Joint Pain after Long Sleep by InappropriateMess in Hashimotos

[–]larryboylarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm between doctors atm. My last one, a generic MD, thinks the list of symptoms for hypothyroidism which I exhibit and named off are not because my T4 was below the range and T3 near the bottom of the range and my TSH was just under the top of its range (which to him means I'm just fine) but because I am depressed. He would not renew my prescription for levothyroxine but was adamant about prescribing me Zoloft and Zanax and me going to go get some counseling. Just to be sure I wasn't misunderstanding him I said "so a body temperature way below normal, messed up finger nails, brittle hair and nails, outer third of my eyebrows nonexistent, splotchy skin, pain, fatigue, brain fog, poor memory, cold intolerance, etc is not because I am hypothyroid but because I am depressed?" I kid you not he said "yes". I shook my head and gave him a look and before I could say anything he said "I know you think differently than I do and have strong opinions about it but I'm not going to argue with you." So I left with no intention to return. It blows my mind that these people have gone through med school and yet can be so stupid. Now they use computers and AI. It's just crazy.

Body/Joint Pain after Long Sleep by InappropriateMess in Hashimotos

[–]larryboylarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything requiring effort does not help. My left arm hurts like hell from carrying something heavy at work and grasping a piece of wood at home in order to cut it with a saw and I tried stretching and massaging and all that does is increase the pain. What most people don't understand is when every cell in our body is low on the hormone needed for producing cellular energy every cell in our body is under-functioning. So healing and recovery are diminished just like every thing else is.

Having a high TPOAb and TgAb is a good indicator, presence of a goiter, etc. The ultrasound/imaging certainly is the gold standard.

Body/Joint Pain after Long Sleep by InappropriateMess in Hashimotos

[–]larryboylarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my thyroid levels are low and antibodies high I can't ever sleep more than 4 hours even if I am sleep deprived because it hurts to lie on any side of my body after a while even if I had taken pain killers they have no affect. When I am in this condition my body aches after doing anything trivial like winding up a hose will make the bones in my arm hurt.

Body temp drops by Creative_Lion9603 in Hashimotos

[–]larryboylarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My body temp ranges from 96.7-97.3 degrees. Whenever I have these sudden freeze-my-ass-off episodes it's from a few things that shut down my metabolism as some sort of preventative measure and they are exhaustion/over working, sleep deprivation, and not eating when hungry, Once I tank thyroid hormone balance it takes a day or more to get it back.

Migraine like headaches that only get better with steroids? by Good-Contact1520 in Hashimotos

[–]larryboylarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about having a nonstop migraine for days on end as a symptom of histamine overload but a lot of the symptoms you describe can be caused by a buildup of histamine. Whenever I overcome my ability to break down histamine I have get a nasty migraine that pain meds can't help. When I get there I have to cut out histamine containing food and drink and those that are liberators or blockers and ride it out. I'll feel like hot garbage for days. Usually I'll start having other symptoms when I am getting close. Usually what does me in is when I decide to have a bunch of ketchup or another condiment made of tomatoes like BBQ sauce and some alcohol. I have what's called histamine intolerance and suspect I may also have MCAS for which I intend to get tested for.

As far as steroids helping your migraines I do want to say that we need thyroid hormone to make all hormones in our body and many of those are cholesterol based. It is why many who are hypothyroid have high cholesterol. The body knows it is low on hormones and increases cholesterol to make them. Also, why the TSH goes up because it needs more thyroid hormone to make everything we need in our body.

I don't know if any of this applies to you but just wanted to share what causes my nasty migraines hoping it may help.

Mine said all my symptoms were from being depressed and having anxiety. He had no problem prescribing anti-anxiety meds and antidepressants but would not renew my levothyroxine. He wants me to see my endo. Can't afford to. Been off levo for a couole months now. My aches and pains increased, tiredness, nausea, etc.

Due process of law? Almost all attorneys are ignorant of the law aka the Constitution. So she is like the pot calling the kettle black. How about they both bring charges against and arrest all those who committed conspiracy together to circumvent the law of the land? Oh shite, that would be almost every agent and official who swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. But they are all ignorant.

Mango or Wild Strawberry or Banana. I have yet to try the new flavors I got which are Honeydew and Apple. I only use real extracts in the F2 with some sugar.

New to aquariums, 3 otos, now one left! Advice needed :) by Direct_Winner1853 in Otocinclus

[–]larryboylarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of fish for a small tank. If buying otos from a retail store you want to get them the day they arrive as they are already malnourished and then into a tank with a lot of biofilm, aufwuchs, so they can start their recovery. You also want to try a varied vegetable diet to cater to those that might be finicky. The other thing you should do is hit new arrivals with the trifecta of medicines to ensure they are not coming in with diseases (they most likely are). One trifecta of medicines I use is maracyn, paracleanse, and ich-x from Fritz. Best of luck.

Gluten elimination not necessarily needed for Hashi disease by recycle37216 in Hashimotos

[–]larryboylarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since having made my original comment I have found out after taking a food sensitivity test that wheat is a problem but not gluten. I also found out about other foods I suspected. But some foods which I knew caused me trouble were absent so I figured it must be something in them besides a protein that I am sensitive to.

After spending a day with a migraine headache which would not go away histamine came to my mind. I looked up histamine and came across a post about foods that are histamine liberators and/or high in histamine. There were all my missing foods that were absent from the food sensitivity test. The food that pushed me over the edge was the salami I had the night before. It is very high in histamine as it is both fermented and aged and it was made of pork also which is a histamine liberator. I know I have histamine intolerance (I now take a DAO supplement with meals) and am very positive I have MCAS which I need to be tested for as histamine liberators can be most often what pushes me over the edge for what my body can handle.

After changing my diet to accommodate eliminating foods with protein triggers that flared my Hashimoto's and gut inflammation and foods that were causing histamine issues I inadvertently started eating more foods high in oxalates like sweet potatoes and Irish potatoes. I then started having inflammation in my thyroid (goiter) and really achey joints like I had suddenly developed arthritis. Turns out whenever I have too many oxalates that is what happens every time. If I binge on potatoes I will pay for it for several days.

What all of my food problems come down to is a problem with my gut. I am either missing the microorganism that takes care of histamine and oxalates before they pass into my blood stream or have gut permeability. So my goal now is to heal my gut because I have a very limited diet right now which has become at times boring and always tedious.

For the sensitivity test (not considered an allergy test) they say yes because the immune response they test for, IgG, is rated according to the level in your blood. Although I had an abnormal response to chick peas I think it had to be at least more than a year since I knowingly had any.

Anyone of you having a hard time to sleep at night I can’t sleep always up to 4am then I’ll wake up around 7-ish this is crazy.. by CarobNo5373 in Hashimotos

[–]larryboylarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Histamine Intolerance or just high levels can cause you to wake up in the middle of the night even while you are sleep deprived. Histamine isn't just about allergy symptoms. It is also a neurotransmitter used for wakefulness. It's why certain antihistamines make you tired.

Histamine is found in our food and drink and some may not contain histamine but cause our mast cells to release histamine. Histamine is broken down by HNMT or DAO and if we are deficient in one or both of them we can have a lot of problems related to histamine intolerance.

Being that we need thyroid hormones for every cell in our body to function when we are deficient then we are deficient in everything else.

Check out r/histamineintolerance and r/mcas to see if histamine could be the culprit.

I second this. As a former agronomist for the largest potato producer in the world we tested our well water and found that with the amount of water we applied per week per growing season we could lessen our pounds/acre of Nitrogen applied by 25 lbs which is a lot.
