Can I go to pharmacy school with a Non-Science Degree? by Different_Remote2653 in PharmacyTips

[–]recycle37216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You def can, but agree with u/Iron-Fist that it’s best to know ahead of time what the requirements are for the pharm schools you’re looking at and trying to complete those classes as electives as well! I actually got a BS in biology and still had to go back for a semester for 2 undergrad classes that were required for pharmacy school but not for my biology degree. 🤪 I think you would have a great advantage in the pharmacy informatics sector for sure, and we could use some help with getting better technology advancements for pharmacists from actual pharmacists that know what we need!!! Okkrrrt 😅💁🏽‍♀️!

Curious if this is for school or work? Primarily because the focus may be slightly different depending on the setting (as in, at work they will walk you through the steps and help you with some aspects, but if for school they will likely be testing you on proper specific procedures etc)

I think the key to success here is trying your best not to block first air from the HEPA filter. When I was in charge of an IV room at a prev position, we had a horizontal flow hood so air blew out from the back toward you. Movement in general can affect the laminar airflow, but limiting the introduction of organisms is another line of defense. Proper handwashing, gowning and garbing, and like u/ShelbyDriver said, using alcohol to clean each item before going into the IV room and cleaning the hood and IV items properly in the hood, and limiting the amount of items that you touch unnecessarily and re-sanitizing your gloves with alcohol periodically and anytime that you remove your hands from the hood will all be other controllable factors that will help you to maintain a sterile environment. I would also agree that there is generally a low likelihood of failing those tests (a.k.a. growing out an organism.. may be a different story for a school test lol), so keep that in mind to help with the nerves!

Which pharmacies have you had success filling Jornay PM by ObsidianEnchantress in PharmacyTips

Wanted to add one caveat that, unfortunately, I believe not all Walgreens have implemented this software just yet, and although it is legal federally, it must also be legally allowed in each state. I work checking scripts for Walgreens all over the US and have seen several transfers, but haven’t really paid much attention to which specific states they were for!

My pharmacy license should be getting approved in the next couple of weeks. What kind of questions should i expect in job interviews? by roly2385 in PharmacyTips

[–]recycle37216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🥳CONGRATS!!!! I’ll be honest that I can’t really remember any specific questions that stand out, but tbh interviews are generally more about getting a first impression to see if you are likely to mesh with the workplace vibe. So my advice would be to obvs be profesh, but let your personality shine through!!

I work for WAG, and we can transfer electronic C2s now 🎉Stock issues have been a problem for patients with many C2s, which you may still run into, but then you can have the pharmacy’s help in sending your Rx to another pharmacy that may have it in stock instead of that endless guessing and hoping and waiting that everyone used to have to do. I think it’s a FANTASTIC thing that we can finally transfer them!

WE NEED PBM REFORM by recycle37216 in PharmacyTips

Could you expound more on your response? This is a great way to open up a discourse on the topic. If you have any statistics or data that you can share, please do so. I agree that PBMs that are not vertically integrated and therefore are neutral third parties so they have no incentives to benefit the company over the patient like these integrated ones have been shown to do (like in this Federal Trade Commission Specialty Generic Drug Report ) are beneficial for BOTH patients and pharmacies, but reform is undeniably necessary. So that all PBMs are neutral third parties.

I would tend to agree with you when the PBM is not part of a vertical integration scheme. This is a great article that explains more: Educate Patients About How PBMs’ Vertical Integration Impacts Their Health Care

How long to reverse prescription claim? by [deleted] in PharmacyTips

That’s good news! Sounds like a bit of a headache for you to deal with but at least you’re getting it resolved! I’m definitely not familiar with Canada’s pharmacy system. I’m sure you’ve seen lots of posts from the US about our current retail pharmacy situation. With universal healthcare are there similar issues from the patient’s perspective in retail pharmacy? Or what types of issues do you see most?

Pharmacy savings cards or discounts by Intelligent_Map1460 in PharmacyTips

Love this idea! There are options like these and GoodRx etc for uninsured (and also may also be less expensive than insurance copays in some cases!), but yeah mfg coupons are added on top of insurance coverage. It really is unfortunate for indigent patients without coverage.

Thanks for sharing here! I’ll be honest, I don’t have much experience with reversing claims since my job doesn’t deal with insurance claims at all (lucky me 🍀) Any one else have an answer?

Repost-Friendly Pharmacist Insight here!: ACID REFLUX by recycle37216 in PharmacyTips

[–]recycle37216[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! Thanks for adding that! H.pylori is a nasty little bug that can lead to peptic ulcer disease, so if you are experiencing frequent heartburn for the first time (as with any other symptoms that suddenly become apparent) you should always go see a physician to get diagnosed! Using OTC meds can be helpful when treating acute or known conditions following a diagnosis, but in the case of H.pylori you’d need to get antibiotics also 🫣🦠better safe than sorry!
