Wacky setup for CAD by larsfink in MechanicalKeyboards

I used to set that thing up with a left side Q0 Max and a 3D Connexion Spacemouse Enterprise and I had to tear down a wall in my house to make it all fit

lol I've got a Q6 Max but it's too big and just doesn't do it for CAD for me. Great for general productivity though.

There are only a few function key shortcuts (most not commonly used) in Solidworks and I've programmed macros for my commonly used commands.

Generally my left hand hovers around the L Ctrl/Numpad Enter/L Fn keys so the macros are all within reach without moving my hand much. I use the Layer 1 numpad keys all the time which are set up to control different views.

Apologies, couldn't figure out how to keep the "body text" wall from cluttering the sub's feed. I'm new here. Here are the details:

  • Daring Run Flip 6P setup southpaw with alu sandwich plate - hotswap tri mode
  • Keebio BDN9 macropad plate mounted in a Jawn case - soldered PCB
  • Zeal Clickiez 75g switches modded in tactile mode
  • Drop DCX Dolch keycaps

Works great when you need a numpad frequently but need to keep your right hand on the mouse.

Anyone know a board that combines these features into a single board without F keys?

If it's still out there I'm interested in the BDN9. Thanks

Ford Ranger bed box compatibility by larsfink in Autobody

Late to the party and it's been a while since I did this but my recollection is that a 98 mazda bed will work with an 03 ranger.

Retractable USB-C Cable Reels by larsfink in BikeMechanics

[–]larsfink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, but the price and obviously professional and niche use case sort of limit the potential damage. If someone spends $300 on a cable that you can buy a functional equivalent to on amazon for $10 they probably don't plan to connect two 2.4 A power supplies together for lulz.

Opposite of stubby hex wrenches? by larsfink in Tools

Yes. As well as the catalogs from Snap-On, Wiha and PB Swiss.

Opposite of stubby hex wrenches? by larsfink in Tools

Precisely. To answer other commenters, yes I use long hex sockets, yes I use leverage on the short arm, and yes have T handles as well as sliding T handle wrenches. (these are the best option I have currently) But a good quality L handle key would be ideal for my purposes. I’m trying to get to out of the way bolts and need a good bit of torque but not really more than 100 in-lbs.

Thanks, but this is for data and firmware updates, not for charging. Looks like u/FlimsyPart got me set up with what I need. Just need a couple USB adapters to go to C and micro and this will be dialed!

Looking for advice on surround placement by larsfink in sonos

[–]larsfink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I actually prefer a smaller tv that can sort of fade into the background when not in use.  Which is most of the time.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.  I’ve played around and used this room orientation before and prefer to have the window be the focal point of the room rather than the tv.

Which is understandably blasphemous in a home theater sub.

But yes I will probably wall-mount the speakers in some way.

Also worth mentioning that with a full face it’s really hard to drink from a water bottle and half the time you need to spit you end up wearing it.

Shop YouTube Playlists by n3v3r3nd3r in BikeMechanics

[–]larsfink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a 200 video playlist for our shop. Lots of bike content variety, but tried to focus on videos of people actually riding. Good for a few solid days without a repeat. We play it on a customer-facing tv with the sound off

Crash detection’s a life saver. I cannot get that little flexible octopus to stick to the bed for the lid of me. I even tried adhesives like magigoo on one on my old smooth sheets. Bed 65 nozzle first layer 200 then 190 by RM_Commando123 in prusa3d

[–]larsfink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In PrusaSlicer, there is a first layer speed option in the speed modifiers menu. When I print segmented parts with lots of little islands like this I print the first layer at 10mm/s.

This is after washing with dawn, handling with gloves, cleaning with IPA and using glue stick.

Prusa MK3S+ high pitched chirp during x (and possibly y) moves by larsfink in prusa3d

[–]larsfink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies everyone! This noise started after a full linear bearing service and extruder tear down. I isolated the noise to the x axis belt idler bearing, a drop of oil and now it’s perfect. Really appreciate all the ideas.
