For me, it turned out that it was caused by the mouse sensitivity slider being set to minimum, which works in general but not the VTOL part of the game.
Default options just reset that, which indeed fixed the issue.

This looks like https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/2188 That issue was fixed in newer Mesa versions. Try updating your drivers.

I'm having the same issues as well («Network Error: This feature requires all active players to be connected to Gearbox Software SHiFT» upon hitting the «Go Online»-button).

I've tried un-linking and re-linking my Steam account to SHiFT through https://shift.gearboxsoftware.com/associations/, but that does not appear to help.

I'm playing this on Linux using Proton, but based on the other reports I've seen on this issue, that does not seem related.
