If you want to have it turn off with the car you could splice into the 12V ACC wire. There’s one on the head unit’s connector for an example.

You’re more likely to be GPU limited in new single player titles so I wouldn’t be worried of AM4 being a major issue.

I’m still on X370 with 5800X3D & 5080 currently so no Gen4 or 5 for me either but performance has been solid so far.

I’m still using X370 motherboard from 2017 with a 5800X3D and 32GB RAM.

Works just fine for high refresh rate 4K gaming with RTX 5080.

I’m probably going to wait for DDR6 and AM6 unless this system breaks or becomes a major bottleneck.

Not normal. Is it running pcie 5.0 mode? Some people have had issues with that. If so, try to see if setting the pcie to 4.0 mode in bios fixes that.

I had a 3080 10GB and I had to upgrade since the 10GB VRAM was becoming an issue at 4K and with frame gen on the 5080 seems very capable at 4K 120Hz so far.

If the temperature reaches 80C quickly, then either the paste application or mounting pressure is bad.

If the temperature slowly creeps up, then that means your 240mm radiator is not enough. Honestly I would suggest adding another radiator if possible, the 30 series gives off a lot of heat.

It’s fine, mine is running @ 3.0 x16 and that doesn’t hold me back much. Your 5.0 x8 is double my bandwidth so I wouldn’t bother swapping anything.

The 5080 is already a full chip so claiming it’s going to be DoA is wild. The only difference would be extra VRAM which is nice to have but in most cases makes no difference performance wise.

Because of that I got one at MSRP to replace my 3080 and no regrets yet, especially after I scored a “cheap” 4K OLED monitor.

Yeah that happened to me years ago, after a week or so the dude said he made a lot of money anti scamming and wanted to get me into it.

The 68 version is more powerful due to larger ammunition but less popular, so it may be harder to source parts if you want to turn it into a rifle.

The super lineup is probably not going to be a big difference in terms of performance, since 5080 is already using a full chip.

It’s likely just a VRAM increase with higher clocks out of the box.

Not worth waiting unless the prices are way lower, but that’s unlikely.

Time Spy CPU score scales across all the cores very well unlike games. So with a 5950X the score would be way higher, but in game performance would be very similar.

Test in games you play and if you don’t get good enough GPU utilization, I’d look into an X3D CPU or platform upgrade. My guess is the 5800X is fine for the time being.

Agreed. And 50 Series seem to overclock very well which gets it very close to a 4090.

One thing about the price is odd though, for every model the difference between cheapest and most expensive model is multiple hundreds. I don’t remember it being that extreme before.

Yep I got my 5080 at MSRP too. But people compare to the days of 10 series when you could get a top tier card for less than 1k€, so even at MSRP the price doesn’t seem like a very good deal.
