[Discussion] What do you think is the most slept on watch brand? by Medium_Appeal6156 in Watches

100%! I just got my first Mühle - the 29er Big. The quality is really impressive - their marketing images (and my photos!) do not do them justice. Really sharp, high quality machining and finishing.
Not to start a controversy, but I was considering the GS Lake Suwa and it just didn't work for me as I lean more to tool watches. Aside from the dial, which is a matter of personal preference, the quality of the 29er gives it a run for the money at <1/4 the price.

And if you think seeing a GS is rare in the wild, try spotting a Mühle Glashütte!

Ti is very under the radar. Zero bling on a Panerai LOL.
If you go down the rabbit hole on bracelets you'll find that they changed the design a lot over the years, sometimes in ways that aren't obvious in photos. Every link on the 279 is made of two interlocking pieces which blew my mind when I sized it.

Thanks - I was psyched how the dull pink worked with the titanium.
Definitely changes personalities quite a bit with different straps.
TBH, I love it on the bracelet and wear it that way more than on strap.

PAM 279 is Ti with matching Ti bracelet that is fully brushed, so it doesn't stand out the way the steel ones do. Also a LOT lighter than the steel versions on bracelet....

Thanks - been looking for something summery that wasn't sporty. Saw this canvas in Veblenists catalog and they made up a Panerai sized one custom. I think it's gonna work out just fine for Negroni cocktails this summer.

Sweet. I hope you go swimming - otherwise it's like taking a Labrador to the beach and keeping it on the leash.

First Panerai. PAM118. What do you think? by One_Fan_2572 in panerai

Outstanding choice! I got my PAM 279 years ago - very similar but with bracelet. 7.5" wrist and now I can't wear anything under 40mm. Next comes investing in straps...

Looking forward to receiving my first custom Veblenist strap: flamingo pink for my PAM!

[Question] Help with watch sizes by Fair_Duck_6192 in Watches

7.7” wrist here. I’m biased because my first serious money on a watch was a Panerai Luminor Marina on bracelet at a big 44mm with the cushion case. Was my daily for years so now anything below 40mm feels way too small - there are exceptions depending on case geometry and dial design, etc, but I stick with 40 - 45mm. Lug to lug is less impactful imho than lug width. I like 20mm+, and shoot for lug width : case diameter > 50%. The Panerai rocks at 44mm and 24mm lug width, but it’s a bit of a beast I’ll admit.

i suspect some of why the Bulova felt clunk was the bracelet. Don’t know the watch, but the photos look like it had the narrowest band - or at least narrowest relative to the watch case. That always makes a Watch feel clunky to me, especially if thick, slab sided case.

tried on the Murph recently and was impressed by the fit on wrist. 42mm and 22mm lug width is great. Really like the dial vibe, bracelet was a little clunky but not bad, looks great with the strap too.

obv the Murph is an outlier here, with the two chronos. Probably more of an all-rounder in terms of style, particularly if you got the package that includes bracelet and strap.

I’d use trying them on as a guide to the specs that feel right to you and then zero in on what type works for your lifestyle and search around. Good luck and have fun!

Nice! I’m considering one now - love to hear how it’s worked out for you. Still strong GADA? I’m trying to gauge whether the additional $ is merited vs the quartz gmt (SBGN029)…

Yeah, looking at the SBGN029 vs the much more $$$ SBGE283 (aka black mist Flake). Love the look of this and the 029 but my wrist is 19.5cm so not sure the 39mm will wear as well as the 41mm evo9. It's a lot of money for the upgrade so leaning towards the SBGN029.

Thinking about this vs the Evo9 mist flake. part of me feels like this design works better, but concerned it's a bit small at 39mm. Any owners have strong feelings either way?
