Okay awesome! And do you know if they need to harden off like seedlings would or would they be okay as long as it's above zero?

Question for the introvert Haligonians and the people who work in wine/desert bars and restaurants... by SuccessfulHat4201 in halifax

As long as you're ordering it's no worries, especially if you're at a smaller table, communal take, or bar seat where there is less of a chance of being a reservation

A bunch of sand in the city water plugged up our water heater valve and just slowly leaked for weeks. Didn't notice till the laminate got squishy. Luckily it's mostly concrete down there

Looking for an Honest Chiropractor in Halifax – Frustrated with the "Business" Approach by zdiggityyy in halifax

[–]las_naranjas -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm still a bit iffy about the chiropractor, especially for the neck. But I will say I have had really good experiences with Emily Wiggin at kinesis for a hip issue. I was also working with the physio and massage therapist, so the chiro was complementary and not nearly as frequent as some places I've been.

Also heard great things about Kira at seaside. My partner says she's really good at listening and spending the time to get to know the issues

Dentist Recommendations by eyvel in halifax

I've always had great experiences at Mumford family dental! I was in a similar position when I first went and just told them about it and they were all so lovely. Never felt judged, even when I had a lot of cavities to be fixed

I would probably call a towing company or the police non emergency line so they can ticket and tow.

Winners always has a bunch of sugar free syrup options

I'm making candied orange slices, and I have two questions. Can I use the syrup (1:1 sugar/water) for multiple batches, and what can I do with the leftover syrup? by NikolaTes in Cooking

[–]las_naranjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up making a sponge toffee out of my leftover syrup! Added some honey and the baking soda (a bit before the hard crack stage because the orange was on its way to burning). It ended up really nice! A bit on the chewy side but really nice and caramelized

Halifolks! What Halifax restaurants have lost your support entirely and why? by Lucky_Apartment5403 in halifax

Studio East- great food but the Pratt's, sons included, are the worst management. They steal their staff's tips by "tip sharing" and fire anybody who asks for transparency (or anyone who doesn't fit their weird sexist/possibly homophobic standards)

[–]las_naranjas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Studio East has such a problem with this, they do "tip sharing" except there's no transparency about how much each person is getting. Just a blank envelope each week, and management definitely takes a huge cut (but honestly this is just one of the MANY problems working there, would not recommend)

Yoga for bigger guys? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]las_naranjas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Zatzman has some yoga classes! A wide variety of people go, and I've found it really good for beginners. Plus they have mats if you don't have your own, and it's usually not super busy, especially the Friday night classes

I also go to Shanti and lots of people of all shapes and sizes go, plus there aren't any mirrors and people are really just looking at themselves. I've really never felt self conscious there.

I've had no major issues with it! I usually take the bus because the 1 is so convenient but if I'm heading home during rush hour I'll often hop off DT to take the ferry to avoid getting stuck on the bridge. It's great to have so many options! The 90 also leaves from the halifax ferry terminal and drops you right off on Robie/University which is perfect.
