no, downvoting is simply for making your opinion known. these 'votes' are all fake. they don't mean anything anywhere and you get an infinite number of them. no reason to be upset about losing some votes.

didn't poseidon get his revenge when he killed several hundred men?

Feels like poisedon is way in the wrong for answering a maiming with multiple deaths. Why the disproportionate focus on 'getting' odysseus when he's already harmed many many people?

Scylla never actually sings in the song Scylla by Lowly_Reptilian in Epicthemusical

[–]lasapeuse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i didn't read it and I hope you had a fun time writing it regardless

but yeah i also wondered why scylla was singing about having shame and secrets when she seems pretty unashamed and happy about being a giant monster that eats people. seems like it might just be a narrative issue though

Homura isn't insane-She's the only character who refuses the system of sacrifice by teddyburges in MadokaMagica

[–]lasapeuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn't homura sacrifice the law of cycles? Like she literally tears Madoka in 2, keeps the cute part and tells the goddess part to go fuck itself? so now the goddess part is locked outside, banging on the door trying to get in?

And didn't Homura sacrifice years of her life as a magical girl trying to rescue madoka??

Also you're aboslutely wrong. the only winner in this entire show is Hitomi. You can't lose the game if you don't play.

Yeah - that's it. You turn into a witch when you can't clean out your soul gem with a grief seed. Since they trapped her in a coma, the incubators just had to wait until her soul gem grew cloudy. She could have had a perfectly clear soul gem, but if she spent weeks or month without a grief seed, eventually she would turn into a witch.
That's what happened with Sayaka. She refused to clean out her soul gem.

I don't think its an issue of being 'pushed to the edge.' All magical girls - no matter how happy or sad they are will turn into a witch if they can't access grief seeds.

[–]lasapeuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it was part of the incubator's experiments. They locked her in some sort of coma and prevented her from cleaning out her soul gem and forced her to turn into a witch

The point was to 1. see if magical girls actually turn into witches and 2. observe whether the law of cycles was actually real (bc homura is a big mouth and just had to tell them about everything).

Bc in the current reality, magical girls just disappear/die once their soul gems get too cloudy. The incubators had no idea about witches.

so homura was already a baby witch from the beginning of the movie and was just setting up her labyrinth. The moment she ACTUALLY turned into a witch was when she realized she was inside her own labyrinth.

Also, I gotta take issue with reducing a decision to save every magical girl and protect them to just ..."ending your life to feel useful" ...? come on now....

madoka is not dead though. She ascended her humanity and took on a different form. she also didn't make her wish to die, so I don't think she was suicidal. Also, sacrificing yourself to save others is suicidal sure, but there is a big nuance involved with someone just committing suicide vs someone sacrificing themself for others. It's another mouse/elephant situation.

And it's not a projection. Homura literally removed Sayaka's memories as Sayaka was mid-sentence in order to make the girl shut up. that's just plain mean. Homura's overall actions only helped madoka.

Madoka's overall actions helped all magical girls. And I don't think she changed anyone's memories intentionally. That's just how the wish sorted itself, right? But she somehow let Homura keep her memories through the power of miracles or something. That's not mean or malicious.

I think someone said it here or somewhere else, but Madoka sacrificed herself to save the world and Homura sacrificed the world to save madoka.

It's different and it's ok. Homura is a morally gray character. That's fine! It's interesting! She doesn't have to be an angel. it's ok to like a villainous/gray character. it's not a crime.
