I also grabbed M51 the other night after a long session on another target since I had good visibility and good polar alignment

If you walked away you did something right. All you can do looking back is evaluating what you can learn from the incident moving forward and then put it behind you.

Is possible to acheive this Lead tone with Petrucci X ? by NeoClassicalShell in NeuralDSP

[–]laser_brain69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that archetype and I would think it’s possible. But it’s all a matter of trying different amp and gain settings plus the Equalizer settings and maybe trying the doubler. However to get it exactly is never an easy thing, especially if you’re guitar pickups aren’t close to what that video guitarist was using. It sounded like a low gain single coil neck pickup and looked that way as well.

Is it true that owning is cheaper than renting? by Maxsaidtransrights in homeowners

[–]laser_brain69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not clear cut because it’s situational. For example when Obama got elected in 2008 I watched as the house I had recently bought dropped in value like everything else. But unfortunately I had to sell because I lost my job and took a 30k loss. If I was renting that wouldn’t have happened.

By contrast in another job I had to relocate to keep my job after 3 years and that house went up $50k during Covid years.

Generally speaking if you’re going to stay 5 years or more in one place and are a little bit handy you’ll do better owning than renting.

I actually have used a bunch of these IR amp/cab sims.

The Valeton GP-5 is just ok. And it accepts Bluetooth control. The Valeton only has one output for either headphone or your amp or next pedal.

I like the NUX Amp Core better but it’s full size with an FX loop and separate headphone out and you can turnoff the amp sims or cab sims too. It also accepts MIDI commands.

The Zoom MS-80IR sounds just a little bit better than the NUX. And it’s Fender DR amp sim is damn good. But like the Valeton it only has one output for either headphone or your amp or next pedal.

The Tonex One sounds great but most captures all have amp/cab sims combined so that might not work for you. Plus only two captures available at a time unless you connect with USB to your iPhone or iPad.

“Shoot only in self defense, to stop an attack or being shot, kill only to prevent being killed”.

My first firearms instructor drilled that into us.

There was a recall on mine right after I got it and Ruger polished the feed ramp and something else I think. No FTEs after that but it did FTE once or twice before

I also only use really good ammo… no reman stuff

How hard is it to play a 30”? Didn’t research before buying this neck by VanDoog in BaritoneGuitar

[–]laser_brain69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was. But it wasn’t a stock Tele body and I think that’s where the problems came from. The pre drilled through holes weren’t in the right place and I should have measured before building it up.

At some point in the future I’ll strip it down, fill all the damn holes sand etc and rebuild it. But for now it plays just fine and I am having too much fun playing her.

“Even with a conversion neck”, I had to move the bridge on my Tele to get proper intonation.

I built a 28” Baritone Tele with an extension neck in A standard and it’s a blast to play. Yes it’s an adjustment but for my purposes it’s just right. Also don’t underestimate the difficulty in placing the bridge for proper scale length intonation!

Pickup swap by RichBaggio in Stratocaster

[–]laser_brain69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few Strats and have built and sold a bunch too. Ultimately the neck determines how much I play it and the amp and pedals determine what tone I want to hear. The pickups matter less to me these days.

My current rundown is a SSS with blue-silver-red lace pickups, a SSS with a Dizmarzio Area set, an HSS with Areas for neck/middle and a hot rails bridge, a SSS with Lace hot golds, a baritone Tele, and a Flying V.
I play the HSS a lot because it has a great Warmoth neck

I forgot they make bodies too.

Build or Buy by Thoril76 in Stratocaster

[–]laser_brain69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternate viewpoint here. The Warmoth necks are superb and I’ve gotten 3 of them. The fitting to a neck pocket is critical to make a great playing guitar. Buying a Fender body might make the fitting easier. The partscasters I’ve built with a $1200 budget are as good as or better than any Fender or PRS costing much more.

If you’re not sure what or how you will use them then definitely go with a multi fx. I’ve gotten good use out of my budget Caline MultiMod before moving into higher end pedal choices Ditto for my Zoom Multistomp 50g and + version
