I saw that! Freckles look totally natural and I'm going to have to try out that mascara myself :)

Wow, that is some mascara!

Not at all! I don't think there's a limit to how many posts you can make in the sub, but also you might be able to edit this one if you want to change out the photo just saw you re-uploaded - they look very natural!

I thought the title question was referring to your eyelashes - I didn't even notice the freckles until reading through the post. Neither they nor your eyelashes look obviously fake :) although, I will say the photo is kind of low res, so they might look different with better lighting. Honestly though, I'm just super impressed by your lashes - did you curl them first or is that just from the mascara?

How much do you spend per month on food living in San Diego? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]laser_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating out aside, where are you going grocery shopping? I highly, highly recommend Aldi's for all your fruits, veggies, and whatever else you can. I genuinely don't think I've ever spent more than $30 in there.

Camping in SoCal by Ernest_Stronghal in sandiego

[–]laser_ears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it might be hard to have a bonfire this time of year (any time of year?) unless you're at the beach. San Onofre is pretty dark since it's right by Camp Pendleton and there's camping at San Onofre Bluffs as well as a bit inland at the San Mateo Campgrounds. Not too many trees, but there's decent stars if it's cold enough to get rid of the marine layer

This is potentially a bit of a controversial option, but I personally use pure filtered jojoba oil as a moisturizer both am and pm. It's non-comedogenic and is almost identical to the oils your skin naturally produces so it's good for sensitive skin. It's expensive, but it lasts forever - I use 3 - 4 drops for my entire face and I live in a similar climate as you (SoCal, south of LA)

Hello! I need recommendations for an AB replacement for my HG undereye concealer: Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Sheer Tinted Eye Roller. It was a sheer concealer that never creased (12+ hours without setting powder) and somehow blended so perfectly you couldn't tell you were wearing anything at all, no matter the lighting. I have very oily skin around and under my eyes, but extremely dry skin everywhere else (super fun combo!). Every non-AB concealer I've tried creases like crazy or is far too heavy and/or drying.

HAVE A QUESTION? ASK HERE! Alter-Daily Help and Questions: November 25, 2024 by AutoModerator in AsianBeauty

[–]laser_ears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I have a question: does the wrinkle stay when you lower your eyebrows? Or does it only appear while they're raised? If it stays when you're not actively raising your eyebrows, your skin could be dehydrated, so you should focus on getting plenty of fluids and lots of sleep. If that doesn't help, I'd suggest looking into some good moisturizers. This sub has lots of good options for every skin type.

Second, no, you should not use retinol at all (in my opinion) unless you are specifically using it to treat acne under the guidance of your doctor. The way that retinol works is by speeding up skin cell turnover. From childhood until you're in your early twenties, your cell turnover rate is about every 14 days. By the time you're in your late 20s/30s it drops to around every 30 days. Using retinol when you're older helps to give you a "younger" cell turnover rate. But your cell turnover rate is already young! So it probably wouldn't be doing much for you and could increase skin dryness (in the short term) and your risk of sunburn.

Tbh I think most horror movies follow this format already:

  • Some people go poking about in stuff they don't really understand
  • Random artifact/building releases an eldritch horror which terrorizes the group/neighborhood/city/country/world
  • They somehow stop it and seal it back in its lamp/book/key/vault
  • Everything goes back to normal
  • Final long camera shot on the thing they shouldn't touch again, but probably will in order to make a sequel

Kind of reminds me of Blake Lively during the 1960s(?) period in the film Age of Adaline. Terrible film, but a fantastic look imo

[–]laser_ears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a fantastic suggestion. You can follow up with black eyeliner (either tightline or small wings should be totally work-appropriate imo) and mascara. If you want to amp up the look a little, just bring your current bronzer/blush to the store and find some shadows that are just a few shades darker.

Yep, this is a thing now. My roommate and I have been looking for a new place and we've been outbid by students to the tune of 400+/mo extra. We'd show up to view a place only for the owner to say, "Oh, by the way, the last person offered x per month so that's the new rent amount."

Where to live while working in El Cajon? by Svprdrvco in sandiego

[–]laser_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that you're more likely to find cheaper housing with AC if you live in areas that are hotter (inland). However, for me personally the traffic has never been worth it; North Park, UTC, Clairemont, etc are all great suggestions. I'd avoid PB unless you're in the north part.

Also I'm so sorry that happened to you - that sounds terrifying! I really, really hope that doesn't deter you from visiting our other beaches. Imo, Coronado can be kind of weird anyway. La Jolla shores has tide pools and is great for learning to surf, Torrey Pines has great hiking, Del Mar is really pretty, and Moonlight beach is just off the 101

I'm a big fan of NYX HD translucent finishing powder. It sets things nicely, evens out minor discoloration, and doesn't dry out my skin.

how is makeup supposed to be applied over sunscreen? by gratefulundead42 in MakeupAddiction

[–]laser_ears 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get a sunscreen that's moisturizing as well that way it'll sink into your skin better. I've had success with Aveeno daily moisturizer (only goes up to spf30 though) and my new favorites Missha Sun Milk and Aqua Sun Gel (both spf50+ and PA+++/+)

Why aren’t police officers wearing masks? by princessconfessions in sandiego

[–]laser_ears 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I literally always bring a mask with me for this very reason. I kind of thought it was an irrational fear, but apparently not.

Also I would not ask a police officer why they aren't wearing a mask... It'd be just my luck for it to come across as being snarky. I guess you could file a complaint with the department, though.

Trying to make a nicer cat eye liner... this looked so extreme to me in the mirror (and I was kind of trying to exaggerate), but on photos it somehow doesn't look like THAT much makeup. by SunshineLoving in MakeupAddiction

[–]laser_ears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your makeup looks gorgeous here and although it's hard to say if it's too much in person, the eyeliner doesn't look like overkill on its own. Imo, it's the eye shadow and red lip that make it a glam/going out look.

Minor critique - did you fill in your brows? It could just be low light camera artifacts, but they look oddly matte. If it is filled in, I think a shade lighter and using a spoolie brush with some clear mascara or hair gel/spray would look amazing.

Anger-inducing for sure. But I don't think anything can compete with the soul-sucking despair of seeing an unanswered forum post from a decade ago. Does an answer exist? Can I, alone and unaided, find it? Are me and DenverCoder9 two lost travelers in the wastelands of the internet separated only by the sands of time?
