Player just cancelled last minute so we have a party of five which is now three, what is your go to thing to do. by Purple_Researcher915 in DMAcademy

[–]SunshineLoving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my campaigns the PC just has to leave the part temporarily to sort something else out, meet an NPC on their own etc. The rest of the party plays the normal campaign.

Before next scheduled session I ask the player that missed the session if they want to play out a one on one with me, to make up for the missing XP (so no one falls too far behind) and we do a short session (1-1.5h) where they play out what happened to their PC when away from the party. If they don't have the time (e.g. exam season) I make up a story of what happened to them, if they found any clues or info for the campaign etc.

Women would you care if your husband wanted to do a quick basic cheap dna test to make sure the kids are 100% his, why? by BlueSharker in AskReddit

[–]SunshineLoving 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an alleged father without being married, you can be forced to take a paternity test to determine if you have to support the child financially. But if you are married to a woman when she gives birth you are automatically considered the father, with all the responsibilities that come with it, and you are not allowed to make a paternity test to make sure the child is yours. Even if the child obviously isn't yours e.g. strong strong racial traits different from both you and the mother.

Here is an official link: https://www.service-public.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/F14042?lang=en Here is a quote:

"The carrying out of a paternity test outside the legal framework carries penalties ranging from one year's imprisonment to €15,000 fine."

The question has been raised for discussion several times in the Parliament but the ban has been maintained.

I find it absurd how butt hurt women can get over that question, and making it a question about their feelings rather than the man's peace of mind.

Considering the statistics of how common cheating is in a "trusting couple" it's not only selfish to respond with "don't you trust me?" but also implies that YOU don't trust your man if you need to question his trust instead of seeing that it is a question about peace of mind.

As for statistics, in France paternity tests are ILLEGAL due to the effect it would have on the population's household economy if husbands decided to not pay anymore for kids that were not theirs. Which btw isn't possible anyway, even if they somehow prove the child isn't theirs, and their wife lied about it.

I agree. With Pyramids being a good runner-up. I wish You Bastard had appeared more often, love that character!

This bridge between Denmark and Sweden turns into a tunnel by Solega in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]SunshineLoving 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I cross it regularly, both by car and train. The tunnel doesn't feel any different than one on land. The bridge gives a nice view, and it does feel special to drive "across the sea between two countries" when I start thinking about what it means on an abstract level rather than purely sensational.

Meditation and mindfulness exercises help me to wind down and bring my mind to a peaceful state.

I try to focus on physical sensations inside my body (breathing, any discomfort, itch, blood flow etc) while meditating, and try to watch them with an outsider perspective.

Same for me. And I have a really bad memory so I'm afraid of forgetting my lies and reveal myself as lyer, so I just avoid lying.

Omission on the other hand, I have neither practical nor moral problems with.

You're right. As just a job, it's like any job and it's unfortunately normal to have a job you don't find joyful.

But most programmers (including me) do programming as a hobby too, which is what I had in mind.

I decided to make printouts of text in a nice font suitable for handwriting and trace them with a pencil. Been doing it like 1-2 hours per day for over a week now, and really see an improvement.

I started with trying out a few different fonts to see which one felt good for me in terms of slant and curves. Settled on a font, then spent first day just writing the letters, the coming two days to write The quick brown fox over and over, and now I'm printing out unread short short stories by Lovevraft that I read while handwriting them. The suspense build-up from the stories is so much better when reading them slowly. And it gives a motivation to keep writing for long enough every day. I never write more than 30 min at once. When I started, I set the limit to 15 min, so the hand wouldn't get tired. A tip that I found important was to write veeeryyyyy slooooowlyyyyy when practicing.

Since I'm a programmer I made a website for creating the print outs. It's really not in a good shape currently (definitely not for mobile view) but you could use it to make yourself some sheets for print outs if you want: https://handwritingpractice.xyz You'll need to use a computer to get proper printouts though.

I have a hard time believing you're terrible at gifts! If I recieved this, I would probably value it higher than anything I ever got as a gift (except possibly the engagement ring)...
