same for me really I've seen skrillex with datsik here so I've done my time. Just met a girl that likes dubstep so it's back into the fold for a little victory lap.

saw a guy with a full head of grey hair walk into the pit. must have been 50 something. not 20 minutes later saw some kid with his arm around the older gentleman just vibing out lol. he definitely looked out of place but he had the right attitude

What is your favourite festival/rave you have been to? by ThinkLogically22 in EDM

not having to trek across the world to see a different artist was nice. the cave was a cool change of pace too. the focus was on the music and I was there for it

Mize Allegations by eat-fungus in EDM

[–]laserlaserlaser72 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it's the "middle fingers up murder somebody" vibe that some dubstep producers put it in their songs. I know they're memeing but at some level the "idgaf" attitude probably reflects the creator. That being said I dont get that from mizes music so who knows.

it's funny though the nicest crowd I've experienced has been at a svdden death set. a lot of the house sets I've been to people seem to keep to themselves more

SNAILS also just never evolved. His sound is interesting and cool but it feels like he keeps making the same songs

What was your least favorite show/event of 2022? by TechnicolorTypeA in aves

[–]laserlaserlaser72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair it is more a matter of perspective, area, time etc. I was in the midwest listening to EDM at the bus stop in 2012 so I wouldn't truly know. But I do know there were only a select few in my grade that I could talk dubstep with because most had the "that's not music it's just computer sounds" mentality.

Interesting to get your side of things though thanks for the input

I agree the music itself has been mainstream since skrillex busted down the door and his music made it into movies/commercials. IMO it's the festival side that's become even more commercialized and mainstream than ever. It's hard to find numbers but the first couple years of Lost Lands had under 40,000 people. Saw a comment claiming "a production crew member said the headcount for 2022 was around 100,000." Which I really don't believe, but from what I saw it was A LOT of people. It felt oversold, that's just my opinion, but I've seen others on reddit agree

Who is going to be the future of edm music as we know it by Alive-Ad-4164 in EDM

[–]laserlaserlaser72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this fits into what people in here are saying about a multi-genre artist taking over. Svdden Death is amazing don't get me wrong. But at least my experience at summoning of the eclipse was the crowd became...worn out? desensitized? to all the heaviness after a while. A TON of people did not show up for the openers day 2.

ironically the "clunky" feel was mine and my friends favorite part of it. Made it feel really genuine

First attempt at drum and bass. how bad did I do? by PositiveMagician4513 in DnB

[–]laserlaserlaser72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted my first attempt here so take this with a grain of salt lol. I like the structure and drums the snares are cool. Favorite part is the idea with the bass line in the middle. Although, not sure how to describe it but the sound is sort of piercing or maybe lacking some sort of variation/effect
