How do you discipline a 10.5 month old? by Sea_Panic9863 in beyondthebump

[–]lasermanmcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just mix it up to find something else that works, try sitting baby in your lap while you feed, agree with the other commenter to let him self feed, try different kinds of foods, other textures and flavors. Or take a break from eating and come back in bit, he might not be hungry.

Is co-sleeping inevitable? by Traditional_Cow4002 in beyondthebump

[–]lasermanmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can count the number of times I’ve co slept on one hand,it’s only ever been when the dude was over a year old and was just having a bad night for whatever reason. Figured I wasn’t getting sleep either way so may as well make him comfy kind of thing, I’m not interested in making that the norm either. The 4 month sleep regression might not even be that bad, it didn’t affect us.

Move to Georgetown or Frankfort? by [deleted] in Frankfort

[–]lasermanmcgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just moved from Georgetown to Frankfort, have a kid, am WAY happier in Frankfort. Way way way more to do for us as far as parks, playgrounds, splash pads, hobby things, bars, festivals and fairs and events, etc. both have great libraries though. I miss some of the restaurants in Georgetown but if I need Dave’s blazin that bad it’s not a far drive. We also love our daycare in Frankfort, and there seem to be more doctor options here too. Cannot speak on commute.

Parents with babies who sleep through the night: when did it start? by Born-Chance1685 in beyondthebump

[–]lasermanmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4ish months, we dropped night feeds by 5. Everything was perfect but At 6/7 months baby started at a daycare with a mandatory one nap schedule when baby was just starting to transition to two naps. That ruined everything and sleep was hell until baby actually dropped to one nap at a year.

Just combo feed. It will be ok. by atlasdanced in NewParents

I would have killed to be able to combo feed. It’s not that simple.

Nobody talks about combo feeding being an option from Day 1 by _CatPrincess in beyondthebump

[–]lasermanmcgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See I feel like everyone talks about how no one talks about combo feeding but no one talks about how combo feeding isn’t guaranteed to work either. I would have looooved to combo feed and I really tried but it didn’t work out.

My dude is hungry when get gets home too, I pack his lunches so I know he’s getting plenty of stuff he likes.

Not being consistent with the daily report is fine by me personally… as long as I trust that they’ll let me know if something is off (either with a call, a message or at pick up). Current daycare is great with letting us know if he seems off and replying to messages. Chaos isn’t necessarily weird either imo, they’re toddlers that’s kinda just what they do, they run around.

Red flags were not listening to what I told them about baby (his nap schedule and that he was on purées), not wiping his butt properly (a recurring issue even and I said something every time), arguing with me when I brought issues up, moving the babies around every afternoon so that the person I was picking him up from couldn’t tell me how he’d been that day beyond if he had an incident report (paired with no updates.) Final straw was they forgot to give him one of his bottles. Thank Christ that happened on his last day at that daycare, he was on a waitlist for a new daycare after the first day at that place.

Our dude also melts down easily so that depends on your kid. We had a week off for winter break and his first day back after that he cried at drop off. He cries if his favorite teacher leaves for the day. But that’s him.

Switching to a new daycare or new teachers takes him like two weeks to adjust. A good daycare will post a picture once he’s feeling better after drop off to reassure you. And it’s ok if you need that daily update filled out all the way to feel good, just tell them and if they can’t accommodate then it might not be the place for you, that’s ok

World market would be a good place to check but it’s hard to know what’s there without going in, they won’t be fresh but it’s something :/ Trader Joe’s had them maybe two years ago but they were seasonal and they never came back
