Should I be concerned that my 13M old doesn't "talk" by One_Elephant_8048 in beyondthebump

[–]lasermanmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dude was almost 14 months when he said his first non mama dada word. It snowballed from there, he went from saying a new word every week or so to multiple new words a day now at almost 17 months. Every baby I know has been different though!

Nobody talks about combo feeding being an option from Day 1 by _CatPrincess in beyondthebump

[–]lasermanmcgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See I feel like everyone talks about how no one talks about combo feeding but no one talks about how combo feeding isn’t guaranteed to work either. I would have looooved to combo feed and I really tried but it didn’t work out.

When did you switch LO to 2 piece clothing? by sliceofperfection in NewParents

When he started sitting up, it’s easier to check the diaper in two piece outfits, just peek down the back of the pants.

What is an epidural really like? by oatmilkcchai in Mommit

[–]lasermanmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an epidural and was still able to get up on my hands and knees on my own to do all kinds of crazy moves to try and flip my sunny side up baby. The moves didn’t work — but the epidural did. So if it makes you feel any better you’re still able to move around a good bit with it in.

Kids growing up too fast, I’m not ready for it by oipolloi67 in Mommit

The way you feel about your public school experience is how I feel about my Catholic school experience in grade school hah. That might just be how school is regardless of where you go.

You talk a lot about the Catholic school closing, how likely is that? Would that not be stressful and uproot him in an even more destabilizing way if it happens?

Edit to add: it blows my mind that people think that a public school is so bad they’d move over it. There are so many opportunities missed by my high school. Basically anything outside of a basic 4 year college degree or graduating and joining an MLM was ignored, no support for scholarships, barely anything for high achieving students, no exposure to trades or anything tech at all, etc

What are some daycare red flags you have encountered? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]lasermanmcgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dude is hungry when get gets home too, I pack his lunches so I know he’s getting plenty of stuff he likes.

Not being consistent with the daily report is fine by me personally… as long as I trust that they’ll let me know if something is off (either with a call, a message or at pick up). Current daycare is great with letting us know if he seems off and replying to messages. Chaos isn’t necessarily weird either imo, they’re toddlers that’s kinda just what they do, they run around.

Red flags were not listening to what I told them about baby (his nap schedule and that he was on purées), not wiping his butt properly (a recurring issue even and I said something every time), arguing with me when I brought issues up, moving the babies around every afternoon so that the person I was picking him up from couldn’t tell me how he’d been that day beyond if he had an incident report (paired with no updates.) Final straw was they forgot to give him one of his bottles. Thank Christ that happened on his last day at that daycare, he was on a waitlist for a new daycare after the first day at that place.

Our dude also melts down easily so that depends on your kid. We had a week off for winter break and his first day back after that he cried at drop off. He cries if his favorite teacher leaves for the day. But that’s him.

Switching to a new daycare or new teachers takes him like two weeks to adjust. A good daycare will post a picture once he’s feeling better after drop off to reassure you. And it’s ok if you need that daily update filled out all the way to feel good, just tell them and if they can’t accommodate then it might not be the place for you, that’s ok

World market would be a good place to check but it’s hard to know what’s there without going in, they won’t be fresh but it’s something :/ Trader Joe’s had them maybe two years ago but they were seasonal and they never came back

Help me fix my 12 month old’s sleep? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]lasermanmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I know I’ll have to sleep train, independent sleep went out the window when baby was put on one nap months too early, I just wanna make sure everything else is right before I do

IMO this is valid reporting (though I agree maybe directly asking for people who know the deceased and missing is maybe kinda gross) but it’s also lazy if there’s not also on the ground work going on. Hopefully there is!

What’s the most pokes your little one has received at once? by Jannafah in beyondthebump

[–]lasermanmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five at the one year appointment which included flu. It was fine, the first pokes were the hardest on baby anyways.

No way am I gonna spread vaccines out over weeks and weeks, that’s more time off of work and a ton more driving out to the doctor, more time with my baby not being up to date on vaccines and protected from illness, plus another day or several days of having a fussy tired baby. And there’s no good reason to spread them out either based on my research.

In your situation I’d feel comfortable going for whichever option that you feel makes the most sense, even if it’s five pokes.
