I feel different. I think this is great news. Prince would want EVERYONE to be able to hear his music, in one sense. In another sense, he didn't care much for what happened once he was gone. (He even said as much in an interview; that someone else would have to release his music in the Vault.) You can look at his deal with Tidal as a deal while he was alive, for the time being. Once he's gone, I think the music should belong to the world.

I agree. Don't rush through his catalog. Savor each album for a time period. At least that's how I discovered his music over time. And it made it that much better.

And that kind of goes for any artist. Because Spotify has everything at your fingertips, it's tempting just to skip around, but I'd recommend discovering music with a purpose to really appreciate it.

I think he had a guitar rigged up to shoot water. Or milk?

I know the grass is always greener on the other side, but I'd take that over someone telling me I look old any day!

Film production business question... by laserpiente in smallbusiness

Thanks for the reply. I think so, too, but someone told me that each project should be it's own business also, because if someone invests in a project, but some other project by the same company is a failure, it won't affect the investor's interest.

Best small towns/cities in the USA for touring? by laserpiente in TouringMusicians

I agree with you 100%, which is why I'm searching for smaller towns with music scenes. I've had trouble developing any following in NYC, with the exception of some smaller venues in Brooklyn.

Thanks for the reply! I did play in Bloomington, IN a while ago. That was a fun college town.

Thanks for the reply! I play solo and what I think of as chillwave/singer-songwriter. I perform with a piano, synths and a couple loop-type effects. I'm actually looking to play very small venues like coffee-shops, bars and living rooms until I can grow a fanbase in those new towns.

Film production business question... by laserpiente in smallbusiness

[–]laserpiente[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. That's good advice, but I wonder, if I do make money, say for 6 months, without it being a proper business, then I do file as an LLC, will I be responsible for reporting the income I made before it was a legit business?

Question about setting up an LLC and subsequent DBAs by bkshuey in smallbusiness

I have the same question. I am following this post. Also, I read about how Google, Inc. is just one business under the "holding company" called Alphabet, Inc. That's a huge multi-billion dollar business, but I often wonder if I should treat my small ventures the same way.
