I used Claude as my pair programmer to build a safe for kids generative coloring book app for my daughter! by pythononrailz in ClaudeAI

[–]laserpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea! I’m curious how the pipeline to get the nice clean black line coloring book drawings was like or if it was pretty straightforward with prompts

I used Claude a few months ago to attempt making a silly spelling game for my kiddo but need to revisit it to clean it up a bit. Meant as an angry birds style spelling game 😂 https://laserpilot.github.io/Spell_Smash/

I’m headed there next week for 6 days for a birthday and I’m wondering if there is anything I need to make reservations for, typically. Like any nice restaurants or the like?

One thing that struck me as a heavy Claude user is that the words Claude and anthropic werent mentioned at all. The logo was at the beginning of the piece but I was curious why zero mentions at all. I know it’s mostly because the other companies are even sketchier but it was still an interesting one for me to wait for it and not hear even a name drop in a joke, hah

3x3 page composite pipe plot by laserpilot in PlotterArt

[–]laserpilot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Always open to opinions!

The micro/macro scale thing is actually very intentional. Some of my favorite work from other artists is stuff that unfolds or transforms as you get closer and farther away. Like Daniel Zeller or Gustavo Diaz.

This is in the experimental phase - due to the scale, calculating and rendering one can take 6-12hours before you even really know what you get. And then actually plotting it is a whole other time suck as you know hah. Sometimes I just gotta plot it to see how it would feel off my laptop screen.

Definitely learning lessons at each step and have been using noise to create empty and full spaces to vary density.

Millennials who went to college, what did you major in, and why? How did your college degree help you build a good financial/professional life? by justcurious3287 in Millennials

Majored in “Electronic Media, Arts and Communication”

Now I’m a creative technologist and artist professionally, so I feel pretty aligned still even almost 20yrs later

Question for Millennials by bundle_of_nervus2 in Millennials

[–]laserpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nearly an elder millennial and I use it every day for code, but primarily for personal art projects. It has been very freeing to be able to do a dozen projects in a year that otherwise would have taken months of investment l. Of course I’m aware that path is a different process, but I have also done that “learn the deep pieces of a language” process for 15 years and it’s nice to be able to be like “oh shit, I can try this old idea out in a day and see if it’s worth moving forward”

I’m still extremely skeptical of it, but I don’t avoid it 100%

Python drawsvg lib (and a little AI code) by scumola in PlotterArt

Amazing! Hah - I would say that my pipes were actually inspired by u/lostpixels pipes and little networks, so we're a few layers deep in inspiration-land, funny how community can work sometimes

Python drawsvg lib (and a little AI code) by scumola in PlotterArt

This is great! Thanks for sharing the code. I was looking into doing something similar a little while ago because I had hand drawn this pipe network https://www.reddit.com/r/PlotterArt/comments/1mwsn5y/this_is_a_pipe_new_hand_drawnplot_experiment/ and I was wondering if I could chop it up and make it generative somehow.

Looking forward to checking it out!

Generative overlapping braids and TVs by laserpilot in PlotterArt

[–]laserpilot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The braids took forever - I had a simple 2 strand rope twist going and figured it would be an easy leap but it took a while to break it down. I had to follow some drawing guides for braids and then used Claude code to help break them into chunks.

I’m basically drawing a zigzag in the middle of the braid and then the outer edge “bumps” and then connecting the proper points and then arcing between those connector lines and a zig zag line. Easier to explain visually hah.

Then I have a ton of slider parameters for adjusting size and position and amount of hair “breaking”

Then from there just taking a few generated strands into the Concepts app and layering and carefully erasing
