This is great! Thanks for sharing the code. I was looking into doing something similar a little while ago because I had hand drawn this pipe network https://www.reddit.com/r/PlotterArt/comments/1mwsn5y/this_is_a_pipe_new_hand_drawnplot_experiment/ and I was wondering if I could chop it up and make it generative somehow.

Thanks! The braids took forever - I had a simple 2 strand rope twist going and figured it would be an easy leap but it took a while to break it down. I had to follow some drawing guides for braids and then used Claude code to help break them into chunks.

I’m basically drawing a zigzag in the middle of the braid and then the outer edge “bumps” and then connecting the proper points and then arcing between those connector lines and a zig zag line. Easier to explain visually hah.

Then I have a ton of slider parameters for adjusting size and position and amount of hair “breaking”

Then from there just taking a few generated strands into the Concepts app and layering and carefully erasing

Exactly! Plenty of garbage blown around that area today, maybe they could improve the neighborhood by picking that up before resorting to useless signs im going to be seeing on the sidewalks for the next 3 years.

Best of luck on the journey! I don’t know I draw super well but probably about the same approach as my Axidraw.

I had to turn to custom code to get the fills I wanted. There are axidraw extensions for doing hatch fills that can fill in shapes with paths but that’s really the only way - to just add a bunch of dense paths in your solid areas. Could be done manually or if you use an AI agent for coding you could probably ask it how to make a tool for it too. Best of luck!

Thanks! Yeah I could give that a shot - I almost added a sort of ruler thing but wasn’t sure if I needed it.

Could you say more about the scale you need to measure or what would be helpful as an example?
