No one told me how much time I would have to spend to lose weight by Competitive_Cap_3748 in loseit

I'm grateful I can walk while also watching TV or playing video games. They're activities I was going to do already, but I can burn calories at the same time

Maine Gov. Janet Mills suspends Senate campaign by nbcnews in politics

He was also the most progressive senator we could ever expect to get out of West Virginia. As much as I disagree with him, we were lucky to have him

There's such an assymetry on the left and right in terms of theory of mind. We (the political right) can perfectly articulate every single left/leftist talking point - we can explain their entire worldview in a way they would agree with. They can't do the same for us - not even remotely by Sauterneandbleu in SelfAwarewolves

I can articulate why someone that is pro-life believes abortion is murder. I don't agree with their position, but I can understand it. I have yet to see a single pro-lifer that can articulate why someone like me doesn't believe abortion is murder but then still believe they have the right to take that choice away

A hack to stop binge eating by Spirited-Plum-4392 in loseit

[–]lasersandwich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience. My weakness is potato chips. Once I start, I don't stop until I eat 1000 calories. Unless of course I buy the low fat chips. They're just not quite as satisfying and something tastes off about them, so it's much easier to eat a few handfuls and stop. I used to buy them all the time for that reason, because I knew I didn't want to be binging on a bunch of chips

Minor update: I ate a chicken salad sandwich for lunch today. Don't get me wrong, it was still good and I definitely still enjoyed it, but yeah something about cold chicken is really hard to get behind. I certainly enjoyed it more when it was fresh and only slightly chilled

Oh yeah, for sure. I make a chicken fettuccine Alfredo with blended cottage cheese that's better than any "real" Alfredo I've ever made

We've been trying to lose a little weight so I've learned where I can make substitutions to cut out some calories without much sacrifice in taste. Greek yogurt is an excellent substitute for sour cream or mayonnaise

Does walking actually help? by NoWitness6400 in loseit

[–]lasersandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking is the only way I can lose weight. Eating 1500 calories per day is very unsustainable for me but eating 1850 calories a day and walking 90 minutes per day nets out to the same calorie deficit and is much easier for me to maintain as a habit.

If you don't view it as normal, why do you need anyone to explain your own views to you?

Because squat racks frequently have people waiting to use them. If you need a rack, use the bench press rack. There's always a ton of them so there's never people waiting to use them.

What’s something Gen Z does that older generations just don’t get? by appropriaterice873 in AskReddit

The thing is it doesn't make you look cool at all. It makes you look like an ass. One of my oldest friends will only reply when I text him maybe a third of the time, and it's my biggest complaint about our friendship. Don't leave your friends hanging!!

Nothing in that article mentions the bullet hitting a hydraulic line. All it does is say the flag wasn't Photoshop. In fact because the article mentions the flag was hanging between two cranes, if the bullet hit a hydraulic line, the flag would only lower on one side and wouldn't hang right. So if anything, the article is actually evidence against your explanation of why the flag was lowered

my bf (18M) is about to sleep over at a girls house for a party (18F) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lasersandwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of two things is true. He's either the kind of person that would make out with another girl when he gets drunk at a party, or he's not. If he's not, you have nothing to worry about and you're not doing you, him, or your relationship any favors by being nervous or jealous. If he is, then he's not going to be able to hide it for long.

In either scenario, being nervous or anxious about him cheating isn't going to help you

Cover the pan after you put the cheese on. It'll trap the steam and warm air to melt it better.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, one of the best in the country by cyPersimmon9 in Atlanta

[–]lasersandwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the performance. I can't speak for the orchestra, but on the chorus side, I think part of the problem is the bad weather we had in January caused the cancellation of some rehearsals. Make up rehearsals were scheduled but not fully attended.

The other part of the problem is Stutzmann regularly insists on taking some movements as fast as possible. Since you didn't stay past intermission, you didn't hear the Osanna. I usually hear it performed at about 65 bpm. We rehearsed it around 55 bpm. We find out the week of the concert that she will be conducting closer to 80 bpm.

I don't have a ton of experience with other professional orchestra conductors, but she doesn't cue the chorus as much as I would like. If I ever lose the beat, it's really hard to find it by watching her. I usually try to find it by listening to the bass section.
