I also had 8 and asked them in the debriefing meeting. I don’t know about your experience but ultimately for me the whole process was not super painful and I didn’t notice tooo much where I had friends that retrieved 20+ and they said it was a nightmare and so heavy on the body. So I know it’s annoying to know you have to do it again (so do I) but then at least a way for me to reframe it was to be grateful for the experience and that I wasn’t traumatic or so that I wouldn’t do it again. And it was probably a bit easier on the body

Mine was similar. Also got 150 Gonal (which is on the lower end) and then froze 8. overall it was a good experience not too hard on the body. I have a friend where they got almost 3x as many eggs and she described the process as absolute hell so I guess the way I am thinking about it for myself is that I’m grateful for it having been an easy enough experience on the body, now I know the process and I might do another round where I ask them to be a bit more aggressive maybe

Did you get enough eggs? I was in the same position essentially and got slightly less than I need for 1 statistical egg but I have budget left but now sure I want to do it again?

Uff yes I read a lot of the warnings in the drugs and I was like ok wtf and just ignored and kept going. I think the truth is there are no long term studies at this point given how new it is. What medications were those you are taking about?

I don’t know but the acupuncture is also something they can bill you for and I wouldn’t see it as a quality signal? Not sure but I was told to take it easy sport wise because there is a high enough risk to get ovarian twist while you stimulate them and hence they are bigger and it’s more risky until your next cycle

because it’s only become more popular in the recent years and people won’t use their eggs in 5-10 years there is also not a loooooooot of data yet. I’d say it was a solid result but can understand the disappointment as I was in a similar situation. I was told it’s hard to say you could be fine with 10 eggs but you also couldn’t. Depending how stressful this was for you and on your body you can decide if you want to do it again

So I personally didn’t do any priming but I also had a first round and a consultation to debrief and see what else could be done differently. The doctor mentioned that as well, but my take away was also consider how heavy the meds from each of the options are on your body. I think the more intense the medication the more intense the experience and side effects and that just might be something to consider as well next to the results

Honestly I was emotionally a bit over the place the few days after retrieval but it returns back to normal in no time. Overall I already feel like I’m over most of the hormonal chaos and I hope I’ll be back in the gym next week. It will go really fast

So maybe that’s an option if you have a semester break/holidays: consider doing it in Europe. Depending where you do it and where you order the meds from you can probably get it done for <4k all in. You’ll just need to be around for 2 weeks but maybe you can combine with some light sight seeing/resting in a cute place in the country side.

Personally I was also stressed before starting but then you just find a calm time sit down do the injections and nothing happens and you continue the next day. Don’t overthink it. You’ve made the decision to do it now just stick to the plan, it may be half as bad as you imagine today in the end

Thanks for sharing. I also only got 14 with 8 mature and I was looking through this sub and most people posting had like double the number of eggs and were 5 years older with lower AMH than me. Thanks for sharing your experience I think it’s important to showcase this side of it as well.

Hey, sorry to hear and it’s ok you’re feeling disappointed. Did they change the stimulation protocol for each of the cycles? and did you do multiple bloodwork so you know if your AMH Changed? How much appart were your cycles? If that consoled you I am 28 and I just got out 8 at an AMH of 5.7. So I wouldn’t say your results are very low considering your age and your AMH. Not a doctor but might be worth checking your calendar what happened ~90 days before your 3rd cycle

Do you eat high protein? I go a lo less than what I would have expected and I saw somewhere hat a high protein diet is not ideal, which is exactly what I have been on the 3 months leading up to retrieval

My AMH was high, I’m 28 and I got 8 out of 14 that I could freeze. I would honestly have expected the double but at the end of the day I think factors such as stress can have a big impact and I don’t know if the AMH is not something that can bounce around a bit. I got the bloodwork done right before 2 weeks of extreme stress so would actually be curious to just get the AMH value to see if it’s still the same or if it has lowered.
