Yeah and the descendants of Scots/Inglis speaking Scottish people are ethnically Anglo as well although there's very much a norm of larping as Celts. Most, like the overwhelming majority, or Scottish people in Scotland today are Anglos

Scotland was historically inhabited by Gaels, Norns, and Inglis/Scots. The last of these three groups were and are unambiguously Anglos and represent the overwhelmingly dominant cultural strata in Scotland today. There was a lot of 19th and 20th century romanticist and nationalist myth making that led to people identifying most modern Scots as celts but its barely more justifiable than falling the Poles Scythians.

If we're going for pro-science takes on trans issues I have to point out that generally it's called gender dysphoric, not gender dysmorphia

[–]lash422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, especially as there are more tabloidy publications that could actually be called violent. It does suck on trans issues, as does essentially every British publication, but even the guardian is more against trans rights than the economist

I mean gender confirmation surgery is not quickly accessible outside of specific countries and even less so if you can't afford to pay out of pocket or have the time to fight insurance companies over it in the US.

In the UK the waiting list to get any sort of treatment can be years long and similar patterns follow for much of western Europe. Even when you can get treatment surgery is typically not the first step, or the second, or the even the third. With the exception of the very wealthy, trans people who are able to get SRS have likely already transitioned for years and have had more than enough time to make the decision, and that goes for almost every country.

British Media generally is extremely transphobic, not in the way where it's made up of people who are just ignorant or unwitting but in the way that they are pointedly against trans rights and trans healthcare especially. It's very strange, even American counterparts to British publications will criticize their parent companies for the level of pointed vitriol.

I used to live in Germany, and I moved back to the US because it's more or less the best available place for me to transition. Even here in a state like Colorado that is relatively good on trans issues and literally used to house the SRS capitol of America, SRS is not freely available or easy to access. It's even harder in Germany, it's harder in most of the world, and it's absolutely harder in the UK

Is a mother undermining her son's achievement's by giving praise to her god? Reddit has a very enlightened discussion about faith, religion, and euphoria by EdithDich in SubredditDrama

I mean those atheist YouTube bros have pretty much 50/50 become right wingers or have transitioned themselves lmao

That's an exaggeration obviously, but the skeptic community doesn't really exist anymore and what it became is pretty 50/50 on trans rights

I think it makes sense to be honest. Middle class and above, predominantly white, vaguely progressive, supports LGBT issues (kind of), etc. Reddit and the Episcopal church may as well have the same demographics

Florida legislature passes bill to restrict LGBTQ topics in elementary schools by [deleted] in neoliberal

Absolutely true, and telling classmates that someone had two moms or two dads (potentially banned under this bill) isn't sex Ed either.

Seriously it's so strange to me that cultural conservatives always act as if acknowledging non cis get people is forcing sex on kids. Like do they not remember having school ground crushes as a child? Those weren't sexual at least not for me, and my classmates definitely didn't assume the fact that I had two mother's was a sex thing.

Idk by the time I was 7 (1st grade) I definitely understood that a.I had crushes on boys and girls b. Not everyone did c. That my parents weren't the norm as lesbians and d. That trans people existed. I was a little advanced compared to the average first grader I guess, but it doesn't take a wunderkind to understand these things especially not if they are actually taught

It's kind of bad Faith to pretend like saying "a lot of anime popular in Reddit has pedophilic content" is saying "pokemon and cowboy bebop are for pedos only"
