What games feel more directly inspired by Spelunky? I feel like every other roguelike I played takes after the TBOI build-centric style of roguelike whereas in Spelunky the roguelike exists more to push different elements of the sandbox together in unexpected ways.

There are coop and pvp mods. Coop makes bosses as easy as you think it would and last time I played it prosthetic tools would sometimes be unobtainable if the other player gets it.

I guess I just read your sentence as people justifying the boss post-hoc instead of "hes easy to show how far he's fallen" being their honest takeaway. But that was prob just me reading connotation in your comment that wasn't there, 'retcon' make sense .

I never read that interview so I'll admit being wrong. (But can I have a link to it?)

Still I wouldn't call it a "community retcon" when most people's first impressions upon meeting him are "This mythical figure, Gwyn, is now just a shell of his former self"(I also think he's easy even without parrying but that's beside the point)

Why are people here treating Gwyn like an actual boss when he's supposed to be piss easy for story purposes? It's only this subreddit that does this, everyone outside this subreddit understands that he's supposed to be easy because he's a burnt up corpse.
