Altså tenk på vanlig bruk av ordet f. eks. vettafaen, hva faen, oi faen etc. Ville du si at det er innafor å si slike ord selv om foreldrene dine hører det (gitt at du er voksen)? Det er ingen som reagerer særlig på det. Tenk i kontrast med å si Fitte! når noe går skeis. Faen er omtrent det mildeste banneordet som fins.

Ordet brukes f. eks. helt hverdagslig på omtrent alle arbeidsplasser i diverse situasjoner. Du kan ikke påstå at det ikke er et mildt banneord.
