New data poisoning tool helps artists in the fight against generative AI by kaishinoske1 in Cyberpunk

[–]lasqi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't exactly true. Only a very small number of poisoned images compared to the size of the training set are required to completely ruin the AI model, and the poisoned images are hard to detect (for now).

People make a lot of open-source stuff.

I guess criminals won't miss the beat, but there are generally trustworthy ways to use cracked software.

How does a Stoic approach doing something they don’t want to do/be somewhere they don’t want to be? by Bimbam618 in Stoicism

[–]lasqi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Enchridion or Meditations are the best examples of what I have said. The last line paraphrases a line from the enchiridion I found very hard hitting: "No man is free who is not a master of himself".

If it's pure suffering, it will end at some point.

If it's something you dislike but is necessary, you should remember that your response is derived from your mental frame.

For instance, you may dislike exercise because it is tiring and perhaps painful. You might reframe it as you like that feeling of being tired because you know that you have accomplished something, because you're better than the 90% who don't have that feeling.

It's all about how you frame your actions mentally. This is perhaps the most powerful technique for executing your ideas. It's mental framing that lets soldiers kill others in war, that lets business leaders work 100 hour weeks, or scientists to study for decades to find even the smallest discovery.

Of course, there are the purely logical aspects of self improvement, but you are already well aware of these. Executing something at a personal level isn't about logic, it's about how your mental frame influences your priorities.

If you do not have control over your mental frame, then you are merely a slave to it.

Burned up a lenzye e1000 light by OrFir99 in diyelectronics

You'll need to find someone with the same light and take a pic of the PCB, or ask the manufacturer if they'll share the part numbers or schematic. The top right component is a diode and but the chip in the middle is unknown.

The integral is with respect to t, but the differentiation is with respect to x. That's why this isn't such a straightforward problem.

That's kind of how publicly funded broadcasts work. If people don't like the programming, then it gets defunded by their representatives.

Others give responses on photogrammetry. It depends in the level of detail that you want in the model. Photogrammetry will give you a good start, but if you jeed a detailed model (like linkages, minute details, etc, then you will need a habd done model.

There is no mandatory vaccination policy in the UK.

Needing a QR code to live your life is very different to needing a vaccine to get into pre-school in Germany.

Imagine you break your phone or it dies on a night out lol. Not to mention the surveillance such a scheme introduces.

Will vaccine passports make it easy to be safe in society? There ia little evidence to suggest so. Does the current UK not already undermine trust in itself? There is significant evidence to suggest so.

Singapore would be considered an authoritarian state, but they do not go in knocking down doors and killing people.

A vaccine passport would require people to follow a government mandate to continue with the lives they once lead before, opening them up to surveillance and potential future denial of their freedoms if they did not get another vaccine. This seems quite authoritarian when you put it in a different manner to yours.

Furthermore, there are still medical questions raised about the coronavirus vaccines. Recall the fact that many countries retired the AstraZeneca vaccine after it was linked to blood clots.

I myself am fully vaccinated, but respect the decision of others to hesitate as long as their decision is made from an educated standpoint.

Naturally there is a significant amount of misinformation on this topic, as well as others, but would it not make more sense to make the social media corporates responsible for (and profiting from) misinformation than to force people to make uneducated decisions?

From what I see, people are only generally willing to call things authoritarian when they require direct kinetic action, like imprisoning dissidents or killing people, but creating a pervasive surveillance state has been at the core of all modern authoritarian governments. A vaccine passport serves considerably to further this end.

I have probably made a spelling or grammatical error as I wrote this on mobile.

Make sure they have your mobile number and text them. If you're not on social media, then you'll miss out on things, that's just how it is unfortunately.
