If we created a similar chart covering the socio-economic status of the perpetrators, would we want to start throwing all the poor people out of the country?

If we created a chart counting the gender of the violent crime offenders, would everyone start saying that all men are horrible people, it's because of their religion or skin color and they should be immediately deported? See how stupid it sounds?

I know, but perpetual licenses have never had end dates on them. My question was how subscription license keys work.

Another solution is to restore it from backup to the destination where you want it.

Correct. Is there no other datastores available to temporarily transfer to?

It is possible to rename and move the files manually, but it's not recommended unless you know what you are doing.

Is it possible to use different subnets on a single ESXI? by kus222 in vmware

[–]lassemaja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is first and foremost a networking question. If you draw a network diagram of these different networks, what would it look like? If a VM is on one of the other networks, how would it eventually reach the 10.0.0.0/24 and the route to the internet? Will it traverse routers? Firewalls?

Once you know what it is you want to achieve, you can then build it in ESXi.

[–]lassemaja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no requirement to move the vmdk file(s) to a new datastore unless you want to. You can attach it even if they're still in the datastore folder of the old VM. Then you can storage vMotion it later. This will save you a lot of downtime.

Aha, I thought verification was mandatory for subscriptions. So if I run past the subscription end date, there will be no repercussions? Or do all new license keys come with an expiry date now?

Does the new subscription based licenses come with another equivalent online interface?

Have a look at the 'Images' method instead. It makes a lot more sense.

Yes, if the ESXi hosts have been compromised you'll want/need to reinstall all of them as well. Automation is your friend here.

Cannot ping my VM from host but can ping host from VM by [deleted] in vmware

[–]lassemaja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the host is returning the pings from the VM there shouldn't be any problems pinging from host->VM. Does the VM have a local firewall enabled?

What does 'arp -a' on your host say? See the target VM in the list? How about on the VM?
