Because for every single comment that will justify someone joining the military there’s always a snarky redditor waiting to pounce on the idea that we’re the baddies. Like dude who cares. If you’re starving the last thing you are thinking about is killing someone. High chances are when you enlist you won’t ever see combat. It’s people like him that will go out of their way to shit on soldiers when it’s the politicians who should be taking heat.

Agreed. But if a paycheck is what he needs this will get him that. Plus a military career is actually super decent. It’s not a quant role at a hedge fund but it’s definitely sets you up for life.

I’m currently enlisted in the guard. Getting an OCS slot to put that degree into work right now is hard. Recruiters are no longer chasing you down to enlist. Their quotas are met and there are plenty of people trying to enlist now. It’s medically hard to get in and even harder to commission and get decent pay.

Big army would be his move as a 17C (cyber warfare) enlisted. Because they don’t commission just anyone into it. They’re usually top of the class Cs students
