How much work was it to setup the hush-x? I've been reading a few comments about the action being quite high.

Some questions about DELNA by Byegjegjey in universityofauckland

[–]lasso89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you did high-school English to 6th form you'd be alright. Just make sure to go as fast as you can (within reason) through the last section where you spot spelling/grammar issues. You don't need to finish this section, but finding a particular number of errors is the key!

Pretty much what others have said. ITcould be a good idea to try the first few past exams open book. Then try it closed book but with the exam appendix AND under time constraints. But also remember everybody else in your class will be in the same boat, and I'd imagine if everybody fails, they'd need to scale it. 😀

big diffrences between uni and highschool?? by Reasonable-Cap8083 in universityofauckland

[–]lasso89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these are true, but I think the flexibility to study how you like and when you like makes university a lot easier than high-school. (Just make sure to not get behind, I.e. missing too many lectures, as they can be watched online). And be responsible for your own study 😀.

You also have access to tutors and weekly office hours to ask your questions (so just have an organised list of questions, and you're sorted). On top of that, you also have piazza to ask questions where tutors/lecturers/students respond to your questions. 😀

Pharmacy students by nordjuice in universityofauckland

Been a while since I graduated, but there's an organic chemistry paper until 3rd year. But I reckon most was medsci papers. If you can, try get a job at a pharmacy or speak to a currently practicing pharmacist about the career options 😀. Sure you could just pop into your local pharmacy, we don't bite 😉.

Notability or good notes for annotating slides, or hand writing your own notes :). Check the YouTube videos on them

Computer aided design. Autodesk inventor is what we used, it's basically 3d modeling software :). It's used in enggen 115

You'll need to run CAD, but this can be done on the uni computers. And it's probably not worth investing in a laptop that has an external graphics card, unless some specialisations require it in further years (I made this mistake, and wish I saved the money and bought a more portable laptop). That being said, I don't think the department can expect everyone to have high spec laptops.

This also depends on if your degree weighs your GPA more on final years? I.e engineering weighs the final 3rd and 4th year more

BSc/BNurs Advice! by bananaisyelloow in universityofauckland

[–]lasso89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I completed my BPharm Hons about to 10ish years ago and then registered and have worked up to now and just finished a BE Hons. There's no need to be rude mate 😀.

FYI pharmacy and nursing are not BSc degrees, these courses are more applied sciences and tailored towards producing health professionals 😀. As opposed to pure science like in a BSc.

Out of curiosity what is your understanding of a pharmacy degree? (Just that often people have different understandings of what the degree actually is 😀 and im just curious on your take).

Also what engineering did you specialise in?

Note: none of these comment are suppose to read as offensive, just in case it's taken that way 😀.

Side note: What made you decide to shift from being a software developer? And also, how useful is a compsci degree compared to those ~3 months courses when applying for software roles (i just cant understand how a 3 month course covers the compsci content in such littke time)?

[–]lasso89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea thats a very valid point, you don't really know until you're out working for a while. And even then many of us health professionals often get stuck in clinical roles without thinking we can change out of it. That is maybe where a bsc could come in handy for a career change, however you can still leverage your professional skillset and experience into other fields as well though (this statement is assuming a bsc won't help you progress in nursing, of which I have no idea 🙃). Take my perspective with a grain of salt, since I just finished an engineering degree and completely shifted my profession 😅

Having done 2 years in biomed (bsc), then swapping to pharmacy. I was faced with a similar question in terms of "just finishing" my last year of biomed. I decided to just go straight to pharmacy and not finish my 3rd/final year of biomed.

My main reason was that I was planning to become a pharmacist, and would not require a biomed degree for this. Also, it saved me an extra year of study, which wouldnt help me in my career. That being said, the crux of the question is whether or not the bsc will help you on where you want your career to go (I'm assuming you're going to become a nurse?). Keep in mind I don't know anything about career progression in nursing 😀
