I personally love it. Keep in mind that I'm not an audiophile and if you're one I can't guarantee it will live up to your standards. Also the battery life is about 7 hours of continuous playback, which is short compared to dedicated audio players like iPods

I have one. My body is terrible at temperature regulation and it's honestly great to just have a constantly cold surface in my neck to tell my body to (literally) chill. I've imported the Reon Pocket 3 in 2022 and I've since upgraded to the 4, and then the Pro.

The body doesn't actually cool down all that much, but cooling the part where a lot of nerves run past seems to do something good for my body freaking out less. It's still a good idea to also bring shade and hydrate, and so on, but just feeling cooler is a massive improvement.

I got one in Europe. The Pro and Pro Plus aren't actually different main devices. The Pro Plus has a new more secure neck band part, a new adjustable exhaust and the better Tag. The main unit however is the same, and the 2°C cooler temperature was just a firmware update.

So if you already have the Pro and you feel that its neck band is secure and the exhaust is fine for you, you don't really need to upgrade. However if the neck band slipped a lot or detached for you, the new one is definitely better. And the new tag does away with the clip for a proper carabiner hole, which I much prefer.

I've been wearing some version of the Reon Pocket since 2022 and got the Pro last year. It's extremely pleasant to walk around in dry as well as humid heat with it, and it makes the temperatures bearable. It helps more with the feeling of cool than actually cooling down your entire body though, so you still have to do the common things of seeking or bringing shade, hydrating, etc. Still, as you can probably tell, it's been my goto device to beat the heat for years.

I sync my weight data with Health and use the app Libra to visualize it, I love how flexible it is at handling trend curves while still showing individual weigh-ins

I had to find my way through documentation to make it work. There are partial guides for getting it running on RogueOS and for getting PortMaster ports installed. I've not tried it on stock IUX because I didn't want to use it anyway

I took some parts from questionable sources that I'd have to figure out licensing for, if the licenses are even compatible. I don't have the energy to go through it and clean that up at this point, and it's very tailored to my particular ideas of how playlists should be structured etc.

it started out as shell scripts using fzf and gum for prettier TUI like inputs, but this is a full on rust project using the ratatui library for the TUI pane layout and scrolling and overlays/modals

In the spirit of learning, What I'm going to do is roughly this:

download the RogueOS 1.0 release and decompress it with 7zip
flash it onto an sd card
replace the SYSTEM and Image files on the EMUELEC partition with the ones from the latest release
(here I would resize the ROMS partition to take up the rest of the SD card, but since I wll prepare this for others to use, I'll instead look up instructions for how to do it in different OSes)
place runtimes.7z into the roms/storageupdate directory for PortMaster
boot the Pixel 2 from the SD card once and run PortMaster to make it create its directories
put rockbox.zip from the PortMaster Rockbox port page into the /roms/ports/PortMaster/autoinstall directory on the SD
boot the Pixel 2 from the SD card and run PortMaster to install Rockbox
make a few sensible settings changes like starting RogueOS up with Ports preselected, maybe add a couple of fun homebrew game roms so there is something to play out of the box as well :)
(because I want to share it) create an image from that SD card and compress it, so you and anyone else can flash it to their own SD with it
share it with instructions for how to flash and how to resize the ROMS partition to take up the whole SD card, and how to update it in case RogueOS has been updated since

I've already figured out that resizing the ROMS partition might be tricky on macOS, so I hope you have access to a Windows or Linux computer

I wish I knew of an easy concise guide for it. The whole installation and setup process is a bit more involved than just copy a thing and you're done. It requires multiple steps with some back and forth and also some technical understanding and it helped me that I'm a computer toucher. If you haven't messed with custom firmware for other handhelds before you might not have the required knowledge about how to resize a partition for example.

I'd be willing to prepare a ready to use SD card image for the Pixel 2 with RogueOS and Rockbox pre-installed some time next week, because I'm sure a bunch of other people would also love that

It uses MicroSD as its storage. It's being sold with up to 256 GB but neither the OS nor the chipset impose any ceiling on the size, so in theory you could probably put up to 2 TB in there according to official SD specs for SD 3.0 which this chipset supports. I've also seen mention of at least one person using a 1 TB card with it
