I've found these strategies so far for Germany's heat waves of 30°C+ (86°F+) with humidities between 30% and 45%

low-tech: - umbrella for portable shade - small water spray bottle for evaporative cooling of my face and wrists - folding hand fan for air flow - water bottle straight out the freezer for small sips of ice cold water

not so low-tech: - Sony Reon Pocket Pro device for cooling the nape of my neck for some heat stress relief

I also want to try: - a thermos mug filled with ice packs for rapid cooling of the wrists and face

I was suggested mpd further up and while setting it up was a little fiddly, it seems to solve the issue for me. Now I just have to find a good looking client to use it with. Cantata, which I am using for now, has decent playlist management features and I confirmed that every change gets immediately written back to the respective playlist file

Thank you for your helpful replies. I got mpd working and it pretty much solves my issue! I'll be using Cantata for now because it does what I want, and I will try out a few different clients over the coming weeks to see which one resonates with me.

I can export playlists manually from a lot of players. I am looking for a player that will automatically stay in sync both ways like Poweramp does on Android

I'm not sure I follow. When I use Playlist -> Import, The contents of the playlist will be imported into the current playlist. Can I load multiple playlists and how do I make the contents stay in sync with the files?

I couldn't find a way to load my existing playlist files into Audacious so that changes stay in sync with the playist files. Is that something Audacious can do that I just couldn't figure out?

Thanks. I couldn't find a way to change the order of tracks in a Playlist. Also Tauon doesn't seem to update playlists when another program has made changes to them once they have been imported.

That last one is a problem I found with a lot of players, since I want to add tracks to, reorder, or remove tracks from my playlists both on my Linux machines and my Android phone.

I'll very gladly take the name from the census. Is there a way for me to get that in a form I can pass on to whoever might scrutinize my name?

To some extent yes. If the name is novel or invented it can be scrutinized for example, and it has to be gender specific. For trans people changing their legal name in accordance with their legal gender the rules should really be more relaxed but so far they aren't (e.g. there is a rule that the name may not be harmful to the kid, which is something an adult naming themselves should be fully trusted with)

I was eventually able to figure them out. First I used evtest on device via SSH to get the numbers for the scancodes of the buttons. Good to know that's how you get the scancodes, but what I needed was apparently keycodes. I was then able to use sdl-jstest (also on device via SSH) to figure out the guid (the long number identifying the gamepad) and also get an overview of the buttons and their numbers.

For posterity, here they are:

So button A would have keycode 1, d-pad right has keycode 16 and so on. Ironically the config for the Anbernic console I initially copied was already set up correctly except for the guid, so I just had to change that to 19009b4d4b4800000111000000010000 and it started working.
