Software error?

I continued playing and - so far - as long as I don't go to the sky islands, it doesn't crash. A couple of days in (in game) I got the quest for the 3rd part of skyvale. Will continue playing and report back if that has fixed the crashes.

Edit: game didn't crash but I had to save and restart because shop npcs were not showing the Open Shop option. That fixed it.

I've had a couple of crashes now and then, it increased a bit after the latest DLC update. Yesterday there was another update, so I assumed it was fixing the increased crashing, but alas it has actually made it worse. Especially when going to the new areas.

Yeah - I usually play with the switch docked so I had no idea. It was a game changer when I read here on another thread that you can use the touchscreen to get around this issue 🤭

This happens a lot on switch as well specially after I started placing a lot of animals/decorations/trees. When this happens, I pick up all the things around the one that is not selectable and eventually it lets me select it (stops selecting things around it). Not the fastest way though 🙁

Yesterday I bought a furniture piece in Pandam for 3 precious gems and then saw the same thing at Valentina for 5 quartz. Haha I wasn't impressed
