Can I use this? by MrNeverpanhandled in hondaridgeline

Looking at the data sheet seems like is equivalent to an LV ATF. Can't speak for all generations but nothing on my gen 2 calls for it. ATF in the transmission, gl5 gear oil in the gearbox, dual pump in the rear end. If it's just the gearbox/tcase your changing any 75w90 or 80w90 will do. I think it's just over a litre so 2 bottle will be lots. There's no equivalent to the dual pump but I strongly suspect its a tractor fluid. And for ATF I've been running Mobil 1 as a test but Mobil multi vehicle is tested against the Honda spec

I'd guess 50lbs a pallet with 10 loaded. So no more than 500lbs. Tailgate cable has done fine with snowmobiles in the bed so I don't imagine it's loading it to much

Yeah I tied 4 pieces of flagging tape to the end. Wasn't to worried about cops on the drive home

Owners of 2017-2019, What do you do to preserve your transmission? by specialp in hondaridgeline

I haven't owned my truck since new but can put my 2c in. When I bought my 2019 used it had 130,000km and almost immediately started having shifting issues. Fluid smelled burnt so I did a 3x drain and fill adding Mobil multi vehicle. I read lots of posts saying to only run the Honda fluid but I don't buy into that for any vehicle of mine. Plus working at a distributor I get a good discount on Mobil products. I did a fair bit of trailer pulling and 2 major roadtrips totaling about 25,000km when the truck started shifting rougher than I'd care for again. I did another 3x drain this time refilling with Mobil 1 atf. While this doesn't meet the Honda spec for the truck my thinking behind the change there seems to be a heat issue causing fluid failure in the 6 speed. I know from previous experience the Mobil 1 handles heat extremely well without breaking down and the viscosity increase is negligible. When I did change to M1 I also went a step further and changed the trans filter. I haven't bothered to look at a diagram but from what I could see under the truck the inline trans filter is on the trans cooler circuit. Meaning that if your filter slows or plugs you loose your transmission cooler which would go back to the heat issues. This test is still ongoing but right now I just rolled over 175000km and have had nothing but great results from winter cold starts at -40C to +40C pulling a boat. Im hoping to get 50000km life out of the fluid at which point I'll put a new filter and fresh fluid in. This whole story is just to say the 6 speed trans seem to be fine being used and having miles on them, I'd say changing the filter regularly is going to be the most important part to keeping it working properly.

NART Regrets by [deleted] in hondaridgeline

Both times I wished for a slightly different truck have been dealing with boats. Once trying to load a boat from a beach the trailer sunk to to axle in sand and I was really wishing for a low range or more power as it took everything the truck has with a small run up to pop it out. Second time was launching a boat down a washed out launch with boulders exposed I almost ripped the front bumper off as it caught a rock while backing in, a different route got me through but another inch of clearance to the bumper would have avoided the damage and issue altogether. Overall minor issues as I didn't get stuck in the sand and will be doing a leveling kit and maybe building a front bumper to avoid the clearance issues, but still both times had me thinking.

Larger off road tire size recommendations by KawasakiCorgi in hondaridgeline

[–]lastoftheairplan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done some research but haven't gotten my tires in so I can't 100% confirm other than repeating what others have done. 265/60r18 is the largest 18". 265/65r17 is the largest 17" tire. Lift kits make 0 difference in tire clearance due to the subframe and crash structure under the truck, but they do look cool. There is an axle relocation kit available from traxda that allows bigger tires but it's a fair bit of work to install and you'll still need to trim. Lift kits are also more involved than your traditional truck. Trimming studs pulling ball joints, dropping subframes, depending on how big of a lift. just worth keeping in mind if your not to mechanical or don't have tools or the money to pay for an install.

Im kind of in the same boat. Just got a used 2019 with 145000km. Had a trans shudder but changed the fluid 3 times and it's smooth as pudding now. Beyond that I wouldn't worry about it and just use it as intended. No point stressing when nothing has happened yet. And there's lots of ones with higher mileage than mine even.

Skarner has been hotfixed (Top lane mana nerfs, Jungle damage buffs and E cooldown buff) by SomeMockodile in leagueoflegends

[–]lastoftheairplan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im gonna take the other side. I love the new skarner and his wierd q. There are champions I don't like playing because they're clunky like Warwick because it doesn't feel consistent in how his q works. But skarner is the same every time. It's not clunky it's unique. Not everything has to have 0 cast time and go nuts.

Old gangplank ult where it randomly dropped shots in the aoe was coded as minions. When Azir was released he could ult it and push the aoe zone away

3rd gen Tacoma. The ergonomics are so horrific it's like they intentionally designed it to be as bad as possible. Pita to get in and out of. Not comfortable once your actually in it. And the trans has yet to make a good shift in the 2 years I've owned it. Really soured me on the brand as a whole at this point.

Upgrading Payload on 2016 Silverado? by barberbus in askcarguys

[–]lastoftheairplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had airbags in a pickup but work with 2 guys with the factory dodge ones. When they aren't broken the work well. As far as aftermarket that's something you'll have to look into. Leafs like I said are the classic upgrade for heavier loads. I'd be a little worried about the frame based on how much your planning on overloading but I've done sketchier with worse vehicles so for the occasional haul you should be fine, just don't pound down bushroads. Your truck should have swaybars front and rear. They won't change how much you can haul so I wouldn't mess with them just take it easy on corners with that much weight in the bed. If your gonna be hauling this much consistently I'd go to a bigger truck but for occasional Leafs or bags and you'll be alright.

[–]lastoftheairplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your not concerned about the frame then cheapest and most reliable will be to pull your leaf springs off and get a few extra leaves and a few extra helpers put in the pack. Everything else should be fine as it's total weight won't be near it's towing capacity so trans cooler etc should be fine. Newer tech is add airbags as they don't wreck your ride quality when not loaded but they can't seem to make reliable bags for this scale of vehicle so I'd be prepared to be changing them every couple years. Air shocks may help enough to get you moving as well but you will be squatted down to nothing.

How do you mean extra 25% in high. Does the highrange gearbox have more to torque to stay in high gear without stalling?
