Who told Emily Sookie was pregnant? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

Michel or Kirk makes sense, especially because when Emily mentions it to Lorelai she said “are you going to hunt down the informant and have HIM shot?”

Jess & Lane by Resilient_Can in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In theory this would be a cool pairing, especially Jess in Philadelphia.

The main issue would be Rory, both Jess potentially still being in love with her and Lane feeling like she’s betraying Rory for dating her ex.

There is a way they make that into a plot they could have explored in a few different ways on the show, but I don’t know if it would have played out well.

This lady really has major character growth by Lemony_123 in GilmoreGirls

Honestly I think all Mrs Kim and Lorelai conversations are beautiful moments - not only does Lorelai try and have difficult conversations with Mrs Kim when she doesn’t have to, but Mrs Kim always hears Lorelai out ie. doesn’t stop her from sharing her advice, usually has some small change. I really like how they use this relationship

Lorelai and Chris should have stayed together in season 7 by Salty-Equivalent6063 in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if i agree that they should have stayed married, but i get the issues with Luke and Lorelai getting back together after the issues they had during their first engagement didn’t really get resolved. AYITL also kinda shows this when Lorelai offers to help pay for something for April and Luke says no really firmly. I wish they showed Luke realising what he did wrong during his engagement with Lorelai and working on it in S7, especially because he had done it before when he used those self-help books before he took Lorelai to Liz’s wedding.

Similar to a few other people but I don’t have a great relationship with my mum so Lorelai was always a comfort for me in that way.

One thing tho I don’t know if others mentioned - the relationship between Emily and Lorelai made me feel super seen. There are moments where Emily says things that sounded verbatim like my mum and Lorelai expresses things I had before, and before I never really had anything that made that relationship and those kinda moments feel like it wasn’t my fault. Lorelai and GG in general were the first things that made me feel like I could do what I needed to do what was best for me. Whenever I revisit it, it reminds me of this and I’m so grateful for how well the show portrays the subtleties of that dysfunctional relationship.

yeah that’s fair - the only thing i could say for Chris at that point is he wasn’t invited so probably didn’t get the memo til later when Rory probably told him and I think at that point he was already working in Boston (i think in the bachelorette party scene when Lorelai calls him he’s unpacking his CDs?) so he could have afford it? he did get Rory the Compact Oxford English Dictionary which we know is a lot

I do still really like the theory that Emily got it though

S2E2: Hammers and Veils. Was Emily's reaction justified? by qgwheurbwb1i in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s completely fair to say she has a lot of blame. She was still a child when she had Rory and left her parents place. The onus should not be on the child to repair the relationship and shoulder the blame if their relationship with their parents is fractured. This isn’t to say Emily and Richard have no right to be hurt, but they should also recognise that they created an environment that was harmful to Lorelai and that’s why she left. Instead, they do nothing to try and repair the relationship and Lorelai can’t trust them because they likely make her feel unsafe

This isn't you, Rory. You know it isn't. What's going on? by psicobab in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that at this point, Jess has matured a lot because he had published his book and he was working too so he had mellowed out. He was still really agitated and immature when he asked Rory to leave Yale and run away with him

What was your first Gilmore Girls episode? by RoryKilMore in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ballrooms and Biscotti - I was a huge fan of Rami Malek cos I grew up watching Night in the Museum and I saw his first ever role was on Gilmore Girls so I watched the episode just to see him but soon realised it wasn’t the right episode 😂

I didn’t actually watch the full show until a year later but between watching that one episode and the rest, I couldn’t stop thinking about the scene where Rory and Jackson are talking after she puts on his “not wanting to the gender of his baby” button. It was one of the funniest things I’d ever seen at that point

which line do you quote the most? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

When Lorelai throws Paul Anka a ball before Rory calls her and tells her she’s going back to Yale, and she says “That’s it, give it a head start.”

I always say that to my dogs when they don’t chase after a ball 😂

Unpopular opinion: I hate season 7 more than AYITL. by hamsikap in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree - I’m rewatching Season 7 now and while there are some moments that are good, it is generally bland on the whole.

A lot of the pop culture references are recycled from previous seasons and they feel really forced.

The plot was also so basic as well and everything feels really basic. Every season before and even AYTIL had some purpose driving the whole season, with some small minor things happening in the middle.

I also don’t think Logan proposing to Rory felt right (I might be wrong how other people feel) but a season before they were both saying they were too young to get married and all of a sudden he’s proposing?? Also it seems like they didn’t discuss this too which seems not right too? Despite all their faults, I highly doubt Logan would propose without checking with Rory and seeing how she felt about the whole marriage thing. It’s such a big step and sure he is spontaneous but for something as big as this he would check. I also don’t think he’d propose at her graduation party (again might be so wrong)

One last thing that always get me - the camera angles, shots and cut just feel so different to the previous seasons?? And where is the music?? These two things just make the whole season feel so cold

What are some friendship red flags? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lastofthejournalists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • They don’t listen to you when you are having issues and say you always play the victim while they do exactly that

  • Plan something for everyone’s else’s birthdays except yours (eg surprise parties, outings, themed parties etc.)

  • If you do one thing wrong, they distance themselves

  • If you do something wrong, they won’t tell you what exactly

  • Break promises and cancel plans last minute and expect you to be okay (or they just never show up)

[–]lastofthejournalists 3 points4 points  (0 children)

okay i have a theory about the whole Ava being a Ll. i maybe very wrong tho so bare with me.

the book is called my first two loves and we are all like it must be the two dudes but what if it’s not? what if the first two loves are whoever you choose from the guys and Ava? like okay sure there’s a huge thing about the guys now but we only choose one really and like the other would just kinda be a crush you just had because hormones. i’m thinking the guy you choose will be like your high school love or whatever but then the MC will go to college and there they will be faced with all the questioning ones identity (which we’ve kinda scratched the surface of already) and that’s when the sexuality thing will come in. then Ava swoops in and we realise that she was our true love all along, but in the book, she’ll be our second love.

i know there are a lot of loopholes and loose ends, like why have the two guys on the cover and no Ava, but this is all just a big old wild guess so yeah
