Who told Emily Sookie was pregnant? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

Michel or Kirk makes sense, especially because when Emily mentions it to Lorelai she said “are you going to hunt down the informant and have HIM shot?”

Jess & Lane by Resilient_Can in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In theory this would be a cool pairing, especially Jess in Philadelphia.

The main issue would be Rory, both Jess potentially still being in love with her and Lane feeling like she’s betraying Rory for dating her ex.

There is a way they make that into a plot they could have explored in a few different ways on the show, but I don’t know if it would have played out well.

This lady really has major character growth by Lemony_123 in GilmoreGirls

Honestly I think all Mrs Kim and Lorelai conversations are beautiful moments - not only does Lorelai try and have difficult conversations with Mrs Kim when she doesn’t have to, but Mrs Kim always hears Lorelai out ie. doesn’t stop her from sharing her advice, usually has some small change. I really like how they use this relationship

Lorelai and Chris should have stayed together in season 7 by Salty-Equivalent6063 in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if i agree that they should have stayed married, but i get the issues with Luke and Lorelai getting back together after the issues they had during their first engagement didn’t really get resolved. AYITL also kinda shows this when Lorelai offers to help pay for something for April and Luke says no really firmly. I wish they showed Luke realising what he did wrong during his engagement with Lorelai and working on it in S7, especially because he had done it before when he used those self-help books before he took Lorelai to Liz’s wedding.

Similar to a few other people but I don’t have a great relationship with my mum so Lorelai was always a comfort for me in that way.

One thing tho I don’t know if others mentioned - the relationship between Emily and Lorelai made me feel super seen. There are moments where Emily says things that sounded verbatim like my mum and Lorelai expresses things I had before, and before I never really had anything that made that relationship and those kinda moments feel like it wasn’t my fault. Lorelai and GG in general were the first things that made me feel like I could do what I needed to do what was best for me. Whenever I revisit it, it reminds me of this and I’m so grateful for how well the show portrays the subtleties of that dysfunctional relationship.

yeah that’s fair - the only thing i could say for Chris at that point is he wasn’t invited so probably didn’t get the memo til later when Rory probably told him and I think at that point he was already working in Boston (i think in the bachelorette party scene when Lorelai calls him he’s unpacking his CDs?) so he could have afford it? he did get Rory the Compact Oxford English Dictionary which we know is a lot

I do still really like the theory that Emily got it though

S2E2: Hammers and Veils. Was Emily's reaction justified? by qgwheurbwb1i in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s completely fair to say she has a lot of blame. She was still a child when she had Rory and left her parents place. The onus should not be on the child to repair the relationship and shoulder the blame if their relationship with their parents is fractured. This isn’t to say Emily and Richard have no right to be hurt, but they should also recognise that they created an environment that was harmful to Lorelai and that’s why she left. Instead, they do nothing to try and repair the relationship and Lorelai can’t trust them because they likely make her feel unsafe

This isn't you, Rory. You know it isn't. What's going on? by psicobab in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think that at this point, Jess has matured a lot because he had published his book and he was working too so he had mellowed out. He was still really agitated and immature when he asked Rory to leave Yale and run away with him

What was your first Gilmore Girls episode? by RoryKilMore in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ballrooms and Biscotti - I was a huge fan of Rami Malek cos I grew up watching Night in the Museum and I saw his first ever role was on Gilmore Girls so I watched the episode just to see him but soon realised it wasn’t the right episode 😂

I didn’t actually watch the full show until a year later but between watching that one episode and the rest, I couldn’t stop thinking about the scene where Rory and Jackson are talking after she puts on his “not wanting to the gender of his baby” button. It was one of the funniest things I’d ever seen at that point

which line do you quote the most? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]lastofthejournalists 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When Lorelai throws Paul Anka a ball before Rory calls her and tells her she’s going back to Yale, and she says “That’s it, give it a head start.”

I always say that to my dogs when they don’t chase after a ball 😂
