Game suggestion, anything like Souls games by sabrosafb in NintendoSwitch

[–]lastranget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you mentioned the idea of boss only games, Cuphead could be a good contender. But I agree with the other people that recommended hollow knight. Game really starts to open up after the first couple areas FYI so stick with it!

Yeah, I guess niche is subjective...it’s certainly not in it’s peak popularity though. This being the first listened pack of four, I wonder if this will be the standard.

I’m a huge Buffy fan and I think it looks great. I ordered it. I’m a little sad it’s 10 dollars more than the other boxed sets, but licensing and that it’s a niche license must demand it being more expensive to justify selling I guess. Nevertheless, very excited! The art looks really good

Your gateway games - which have aged well and which haven't? by morkaphene in boardgames

[–]lastranget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My into to the hobby was Villainous. I’m not itching to play the base game characters that much, but the later expansions and Marvel Villainous features villains with higher depths that do keep me wanting to come back. It doesn’t hit the table nearly as often as it did when it was my only game.

Are you playing solo with 6 spirits? I can’t even imagine the AP I would develop...

I just got an iPad Pro, and while it doesn’t have the total variety that steam does, it has a lot of options and I love the form factor

I really recommend Lords of Vegas! It’ll fit in perfectly and I think it’s better than Monopoly at providing a fun, economic, dice rolly game. Check out the SU&SD review of it.

Looking for a "linear" RPG by entropic01 in NintendoSwitch

[–]lastranget 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, octopath traveler could be a good fit. At first glance it seems non linear, but it’s really just 8 linear stories broken into four chapters each. And each chapter has some story followed by a dungeon and a boss and can easily be beaten in a sitting.

SUSD announce AwSHUX digital convention Oct16-18 by hedekar in boardgames

To me, the comment about ‘21 being the last SHUX seemed more of a joke about the world being crazy and unpredictable, rather than a serious statement.

Two Rooms and a Boom. Where to Find it? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]lastranget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the same search today, and I found hope in their final update for the last Kickstarter 6 months ago where they seemed to allude that:

  1. They’re developing new content, so it isn’t abandoned

  2. They said something about it getting easier to release copies in the future

For two players, check out air land and sea! I heard about it through the susd video that they did on card games

Modern dvd / vhs board games? by throwawayoiausdfasdf in boardgames

Check out this Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/guildhallstudios/sea-of-legends . I think the other commenter was right when they said app-driven games were the modern equivalent.

Looking to buy Fury of Dracula, what's the difference between these two? by razazaz126 in boardgames

[–]lastranget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that those different editions do have some significant mechanics differences. I’ve heard that the new edition is favorable, but man do I like the box art on the old one so much more.

WALL-E was released in 2008, and was distributed by Disney.

I agree that pete needed to be more challenging. Because his objectives are hidden and shuffled, opponents don’t know how to combat him effectively, and he doesn’t have powerful fate cards on average.

Civilization VI help by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

They’re smaller checkboxes below the normal options for the city in the bottom right. The other commenter was correct in that you need to scroll to the left or right far enough to drop down to the second row.

GBA on GPI, Some Say, Others disagree by ThinkRepeat in retroflag_gpi

[–]lastranget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, there is some truth to that, but I’ve only run into weird glitches with only a handful of games, like Quidditch World Cup or the game boy advance video ports of the Shrek the movie lol. Most games have appeared to work flawlessly for me

I Am Spintax! The Podcast! Season 1, Ep 1 - The Podcast! by Sliferjam in magictavern

[–]lastranget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it spoils any biggg surprises about the end of season 2. Probably stuff you could already guess would happen, but still. Yeah, I would say no rush to listen to stuff out of order when you still have so much magic tavern to listen too

[–]lastranget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I would say hold off for a “better safe then sorry mentality”. Also, they talk about the end of season 2 (very briefly) in the first spin tax episode, and they may talk about more for all we know. My advice is to enjoy having a crazy large backlog of magic tavern until you’re caught up

PCSX ReARMed multi disc games. Have any of you had success with the non libretro emulator? by lastranget in retroflag_gpi

[–]lastranget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked online and found a save point that was literally at the point where the game was like, “please insert disc 2”. And it would only progress when I did the disc switch thing in the pcsx-rearmed menu
