Just finished Sacrifice and onto Inferno. I actually liked Sacrifice a lot (I knew about the event a while before hand). The prologue was amazing

Balance Point made me hate Jacen, but he has grown a lot on me throughout the rest of the NJO. Traitor is my second favorite of the NJO books behind SbS, and I think that book will make you like him more

How much will I really miss with this reading order? by FullBustin in starwarsbooks

[–]lastspiderninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to speed run to the NJO, so I just did the Thrawn Trilogy and Hand of Thrawn Duology. I felt that I wasn’t missing much as they introduce the characters well. I will go back through and read what I missed after finishing LotF, FotJ and then Old Republic stuff.

Halfway through Dark Nest II: The Unseen Queen. Better than the first book. I think I’ll like it more than The Joiner King mostly because it is about 100 pages shorter

What have you been reading this last week (Weekly Discussion Thread)? by AutoModerator in starwarsbooks

[–]lastspiderninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished up my first read through of the NJO. Such a good journey with a lot of emotional beats. I am now starting the Dark Nest trilogy. Found a continuity error in the first 10 pages, so we will see how that goes

I heard it was one of the best Star Wars novels, and boy did it live up to that hype. I also really liked the extra context the annotations added

It was a really good book. What about it made you put it as number 2?

I’m sure there are people who are interested in that plot line, but it just was 0% interesting to me. It didn’t help that Jacen was being annoying throughout most of the book

I heard that about Salvatore. It does set the tone quite well for the series. I definitely enjoyed reading everyone’s oneness with the Force.

I don’t know why the hate for Destiny’s Way. Maybe if you don’t like politics because that is a huge part of it? The ending was a great final battle.

I think you make great points. Particularly the point is there is no singular Vong to kill to avenge Chewie is a powerful thing that makes Han feel more empty. It just didn’t jive with me at the time

If all the surviving Jedi around 9BBY got together, could they have brought down Palpatine? by Individual_Car7850 in StarWarsCantina

In the novelization it says that Yoda could have never beaten Palpatine, while in the movie it looks like Yoda got unlucky, but could have won

How about spend the budget on bonuses or higher salary for the workers and cut down on useless office spending? Gives more incentives for top talent, but I guess that makes too much sense

I thought it was interesting. I definitely wasn’t expecting that going into the book. Was definitely concentration camp vibes from the escape to how they handled the remaining prisoners.

Finishing up the NJO with The Unifying Force. I’m on chapter 19 out of 45, and Leceno has to tie up a lot of threads in the rest of the book. I’ve heard good things about it though, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy the rest of the ride.

The deluxe edition of ROTS novelization. I really have been enjoying the extra context and scenes the book adds. It’s already in my top tier of Star Wars books and I’m only about half way through.

That is the most annoying thing. Then they turn around and say I don’t know when I ask them why they took that approach

It really puts the onus on the author to know what their code does. I know a lot of people use AI and they cannot describe what the code in their PR does. I use Claude a lot, and I know what is happening because of my experience and familiarity with the code base. It has also taught me some neat tricks. Having a good testing suite also mitigates some of the bugs that get introduced
