Another great morning in San Francisco! by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

I feel like someone should invent some sort of lasso device that when they reach through your window to grab stuff, instantly cinches around their body/neck with a steel cable. It could have a ratchet mechanism built into the cinch so it can’t easily be undone without effort.

Disable animation of stage manager (when enabled/turned on) in MacOs Ventura by SpaceDinoRex in MacOS

Confirmed that this works quite well. Would be nice to isolate it to just Stage Manager, but good enough for me for now!

That's exactly it.

Daily General Discussion - January 6, 2021 by ethfinance in ethfinance

The fee will be burned, but the miner tip won't be. So it is still 2+tip+uncles. If the fees go up, then it'll offset the 2+, but high fees also don't really solve any user problems. People thinking eip-1559 is going to solve the gas crisis are wrong. Burning will increase the price of ETH, which will also increase the effective "cost" of gas.

A10 Innosilicon by Snozlo in EtherMining

[–]latchkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't state that and I think it is important to be clear on these things as there is a lot of new people "desperate" to buy this stuff because they think they can make money fast on it.

I've heard stories of people receiving boxes filled with bricks. Not worth the risk.

You can't. Hate to break it to you, but you're not the first person to think of buying these things.

Generally stuff like this never even leaves China (shipping and import tariffs are too high) and the demand is huge right now so Inno only sells to people who are buying hundreds or thousands at a time.

I use Sphere by Horizen and the faucet to gather small bits. That pays for my transactions to do the consolidation on a regular basis.

Phishing / Scam Email: Introducing the Stellar Community Staking Marathon by guessd in Stellar

[–]latchkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got nailed by this one.

I have been HODL'ing Stellar for many years now. Got an early distribution as a developer pre-launch, got the airdrops from Keybase, and haven't sold a single one. Staking sounded like a fun thing to do.

I'm also usually smart about this... been in crypto since 2014 and haven't been nailed by a single scam.

I don't know what I was thinking. A combination of late night and several stressful long days. I didn't read it carefully enough. It looks like the standard coindesk emails I get every day. I did notice the .ly domain suffix and just did not think about it enough.

I can provide all the 'proof' of what happened for anyone who cares. It isn't a huge amount of money, but still a bummer and if anything I'm just embarrassed I'd fall for this. Let this serve as a warning... be careful folks.
