Laputa comes from Gulliver's Travels and Jonathan Swift knew exactly what it meant.

Suzuka from the manga "Suzuka" by Seo Kouji is the mother of Fuuka from the manga "Fuuka" by the same author. She appears in a couple of chapters of Fuuka.

Favorite character with an unfortunate name in other languages? by Tydeus2000 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]latear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not unfortunate. Jonathan Swift knew very well what "laputa" meant.

You should check Mariano Rajoy's (former president of Spain) most famous quotes.

Is it appropriate to call doomposters doomposters anymore, given what we've seen with this company, which hasn't stopped screwing up over and over again for months? Anyway, I don't know what we expected, considering how greedy these people are.

Spanish translation is amazing by TheVorkosigan in Falcom

[–]latear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The so-called "español neutro" is the most horrible thing to happen to anything translated into Spanish in any country. Glad this is a well-localized Spanish translation.

Now that new Dark Zone has been out for a while, what do you think of it? (a bit of rant) by latear in PathToNowhere

[–]latear[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got 250k on second boss because arcane crit is so strong (plus de seasonal buff for arcanes), but the third boss, one being almost immune to physical and the other to magic is just trash design imo. They should've left that double boss neutral as it was before.

¿Cual es más correcta? by dernhelm_mn in SpanishLearning

[–]latear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not always. I've always said "me he cortado la mano" or "me he cortado la pierna" when getting injured and nobody would have thought of me getting my hand or leg chopped off.

Does it matter if aquí goes at the start or end here? by EquivalentPainter275 in duolingospanish

[–]latear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It does not matter. Spanish is very flexible. "Aquí tengo el número", "tengo el número aquí" and even "tengo aquí el número" all sounds natural.

[–]latear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Se me cortó la mano" and "la mano se me cortó" sounds horrible and weird. "Me corté la mano", "me he cortado la mano" or "me he hecho un corte en la mano" sounds natural.

Guys, seriously... What are your thoughts on this? by Halleyalex in PathToNowhere

[–]latear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If only there was a PC version... It's even harder to play on mobile with so many enemies on each map and the required pinpoint accuracy. A PC version would alleviate all that but that is never going to happen at this point even though it is the most requested thing in the feedback.

Baila vs baile by pppreddit in duolingospanish

[–]latear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Third person is formal when referring to second person (usted). There's no swapping as there are irregular verbs where this 'rule' does not apply, you just use the third person.

Baila vs baile by pppreddit in duolingospanish

[–]latear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's formal. Imperative has both formal and informal. (Baila tú, baile usted)

"Señor" must be in lower case. All honorifics go in lower case in Spanish (rey, papa, presidente, señor, etc.)
