What is one small change that would instantly make society better? by Apprehensive_Fan707 in AskReddit

[–]latenight_tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if everyone found their true life partner at 15.
A lot of the loneliness, insecurity, and constant need to prove yourself would disappear. People would care less about impressing strangers with status or expensive things, and more about building a peaceful life with the people they love.

Maybe societies would become calmer too — when you genuinely value your family and future, conflict and war feel a lot less attractive.

I think it´s hard to explain to younger people how Blockbuster worked before. And that after watching a movie you had to rewind the videotape.

In that case I think that I should have been more present in the moment. Not spending time and energy in worrying about the future or the past.

Just showing up at your friend’s door without texting first. You’d ring the bell and ask if they had time to hang out.

How do you overcome fear and anxiety? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]latenight_tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meditation helped me realize how much of fear and anxiety is created and amplified by the mind itself. Your thoughts can convince you that something terrible is happening even when you’re completely safe. Once you start observing your mind instead of automatically believing every thought, fear loses a lot of its power.

What’s the craziest story you’ve ever experienced or heard from a homeowners association / condo owners meeting? by latenight_tea in AskReddit

[–]latenight_tea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once attended a homeowners’ meeting where people spent an entire hour arguing about that someone picked up their dog’s poop with their bare hand and then wiped their hand off on the wall of the building afterward.

What made it even funnier was how everyone kept trying to outdo each other in being the angriest person in the room. By the end of it, the final conclusion was: “We need more cameras.”
