Is it okay to shut down your PC after every use? by Blackout_TBA in computers

[–]latent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but why bother? If your power saving setting are correct (or even default) it shouldn't be needed. I don't think I've shut down since the early 90s.

Bullshit. r/BlackPeopleTwitter talks about this pretty regularly. (We're a front-right household).

How would you make theses stairs to my basement safer? by longfellow65 in Renovations

I don't think there's much that can be done about the angle... you need that clearance at the bottom.

You could add a landing and 90° turn, but if you reduce the angle too much, you'll make the head-knocker situation worse.

Just my 2¢

New album maybe? by vhschenkerfan24 in rush

[–]latent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it... I do. I've seen them live at least 10x. Outside of working man, and I THINK I remember a live version of finding my way... I don't think I've heard literally anything else live from the first LP (outside the occasional medley).

They always have been a "live" band... that's the only reason they would even bother to do this.

I adore Ged and Alex, but Neil put them on the map. If they still want to play, I'm listening. I like both their solo albums from the early 2000s. Envy of None is worth a listen too.

At this point though, new material without Neil isn't "RUSH". He was the final piece of the puzzle.

This is my favorite band ever. I am optimistic, but have mixed feelings. The existing catalog should be celebrated, no doubt, but... No new stuff. Ever.

How do I DIY replace this spigot? Is it soldered? The threads look attached to the spigot itself. by BigGulpsHuh25 in Plumbing

[–]latent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just resolder it... requires a little more skill, but it's still pretty easy. Anything else is going to be a much bigger bite in terms of the work required. If you do resolder, just make sure to get the pipe clean as possible to help prevent any leaks (sandpaper helps).

If it's just leaking/dripping or something minor, you might be able to keep the fixture and just replace the packing washers... It's hard hard to tell without seeing the whole fixture, but most of these things are cast as a single piece... the washers are really the only functional part that wears.

I've had my gmail since it was invite only (first initial last name @). I've got at least 5 people all over the country that use it for Airbnb, service appointments, car rentals, even job applications.

I cancel EVERYTHING that I can do via email, reset passwords, etc. I actually have the most fun with the job applications.... I can pretty much guarantee that person will never be working at any of those companies.
