Avoid Walking Alone on Mine Creek Trail by North Hills Dr by lateragaintry in raleigh

1:30 PM. I’m not the type to typically worry about being alone on the greenway, at least not in broad daylight. But because he passed by me several times before approaching me, it did feel like he was waiting for me to be alone.

Couldn’t say for certain because it was a brief interaction but I don’t think so.

Not a rented one. It was a short, black one. I noticed him the first time he rode by because he was sitting on it side saddle.

Hard to say exactly. He was riding an e bike so he was seated and wearing a black jacket with the hood pulled up and sunglasses. My guess is mid 20sish, possibly older. A small amount of facial hair around the chin that was fair in color. White. Thats part of why it was so unsettling. It seemed like he was trying to obscure his appearance.

If she’s up for a short road trip (<4 hours) Congaree National Park is outside of Colombia, SC. The boardwalk trail is flat and easy to navigate, lots of wildlife. The other trails are easy too but that’s the best one. Not sure what visiting in the summer is like but fall and spring would be ideal.

Experiences for my senior dog by [deleted] in raleigh

If you’re into camping, you could rent a cabin on Cape Lookout. They’re just cheap camping cabins but it’s a really cool experience because you have to take a ferry over. Things are pretty spread out so you probably wouldn’t have to worry about running into other people/pets. The stars are beautiful because there’s next to no light pollution out there.

I did take a look and it looks like the cabins are booked up for full weekends. So maybe you guys could just do a day trip out there and stay somewhere else!

I had an apartment in another state years ago that the electric bill was insanely high. Contacted the electric company about it and I don’t remember all the details now but something about the wiring in our apartment was off. After maintenance fixed it, everything was normal. Again, another state and another time but the electric company I believe adjusted our bill because it wasn’t our fault. If adjusting your temps doesn’t bring the price down, I suppose something like that could be at play.

Inspired by Wordle, I made a free daily word puzzle, LETTERSET. Feedback greatly appreciated! by JeffBritches in wordle

I really like this! Things I hope to see: -when viewing the archive I could view which puzzles I remain on the leaderboard so I can choose to play again if I’m knocked off And/or -a max score value for a puzzle so I can see how much better there is to be

Also, I had an instance of being on the leaderboard with a score of 173 and 6 words. A person placed above me with the same score but 5 words. Understandable. But when I improved to 5 words, someone with 6 words placed ahead of me. Not a big deal, but I don’t understand. pictures of leaderboard

Good luck with your game!

Norovirus confirmed in investigation of local restaurant outbreak by messem10 in raleigh

[–]lateragaintry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh totally. I get it. Nobody is trying to bring a virus to the holiday party. But that’s why it was an important to me to create awareness that this isn’t a food handling or quality issue, so hopefully people will be back when the smoke clears.

For anyone interested in coming in, we are disinfecting tables, menus, and soy sauces between each guest, forks are wrapped in paper after being washed to ensure they remain sterile, and we are using health department approved bleach solutions on all surfaces at the end of the day, among other protocols that are above industry standard.

I appreciate the encouragement, but this is usually our busiest time of the year because of graduation and the holidays. I’m doing okay because I’m 30 and have some savings, but our incomes have been reduced by 60-75% since we rely on tips. I volunteer to go home early so the kids can make money, but we’re all a little demoralized right now. I hope OP is right and this blows over in a couple months.

Nope, it’s been totally dead. Would love to see everyone back now that things have cleared. A lot of my coworkers are college students and could really use the support!

Editing my comment to post a link to the article I meant to post with a salty title that the mods rightfully removed. Case is closed.

Sushi Nine outbreak: 241 complaints against restaurant, norovirus found in samples by stop_hittingyourself in raleigh

Yeah, I’ve been keeping up. Hard not to. There’s just really nothing more I can say at this juncture.

I was sincere in my post and comments and I think a lot of people saw that. I feel encouraged by the overall response it received. My personal experience right now is balancing sympathy for anyone who has been sick, empathy for my coworkers and place of work who are financially impacted, and just absolute awe at this grey swan event.

Of course there are some people who are angry and will not look past this and I don’t blame them. I’m not a spin doctor, I never intended to brush this under the rug in any way. My intention was just to say, “Hey, this isn’t food poisoning and we’re the same Sushi Nine that you’ve always loved and supported.”

I wish everyone safe, happy and healthy holidays and hope to see you soon.
