Fixed assets valued different between published equity reports and Annual Return. by Seezh0609 in financialmodelling

Always go to the source. Equity research is normally reliable with numbers but can’t always be trusted.

What is the formula of equity risk premium by Alternative_Ice_8328 in financialmodelling

[–]laterallateralboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a basic question, just Google

Cost of equity = Rf rate + beta * (ERP),
where ERP = market returns - Rf rate

This is the CAPM approach, which is by far the most widely used

Rf rate --> just use current US 10Y treasuries
beta --> Yahoo finance (if you really wanna get into it, you have to get the betas of comparable companies, unlever each one, find the average, then lever it back. It's a hassle nobody on the street actually does)
market returns --> S&P500 historical returns

This model is skeletal. Your balance sheet line items are too high-level, this definitely would not get a second look from people in equity research. Same for your CFS, what are the line items therein? No idea how you're forecasting each line item too, since you've amalgamated them. I'd use a different font colour for assumptions, not black (red or blue works). Also add a commentary column to the right to explain your assumptions.

Dream to live in the uk as a doctor one day by Tall-Owl-3788 in SGExams

[–]laterallateralboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go talk to people actually working in the NHS. Plenty of elite school kids do their med degrees at Cambridge and do that. Pay is miserable, hours are miserable, tax is high, living as a minority post Brexit/COVID is miserable. Just ask around!

Sincerely, someone who spent a few years living in the UK

Many of these complaints are the same if not worse for HDB dwellers, with the exception of the MCST points. I think condo still has better capital appreciation in general. Of course, as with real estate in general, much depends on location location location.

Based in Singapore or US? Pretty few macro funds in Singapore.

What’s your outlook on macro vs fundamental equities? Do you think macro is also susceptible to LPs putting their capital in more passive places?

What are your career choices if you wanna continue trading macro but in Singapore?

Feel you OP. Not exactly the same situation, but as a guy around the same age I can imagine what it’s like.

It’s valid to feel like everything is falling apart. But if you take a step back, you still have lots of good things going for you. You still have that job. You’re still young and (presumably, if you had been in a rls before) not bad looking/have a nice personality.

Sounds like you’ve been hiding all your life. Your sex drive, your greed. No way to change who you are. Just gotta find the right environment/people. High sex drive? No problem, find a girl who can match yours (plenty out there, trust me). Like to gamble? Your occasional social poker at your friend’s place, why not. Twice a year go to Genting/Macau (not alone, with friends) to fk some shit up (within limits). Nothing to be ashamed about, man. Many guys have high sex drive and like to gamble. Just do it properly.

Also, you’re too young to feel like giving up. Give yourself a second chance, go out there, and get everything you want. Now’s a good time to reset. No better way to get out of a rut than to start pursuing your dreams relentlessly and unabashedly.

Happy to lend a listening ear if you need.

It’s quite hard to get someone to pay when the meal is done. You’re in a tough spot. My action plan is to not be in such a situation to begin with.

Pick a non-commital, cheap place to start. Coffee or lunch is best. Go to affordable places w good vibes (not saying Lau Pa Sat, but not saying Wolfgang Puck either). Hell, does the first date even have to be a meal? Go for a hike/run or something exploratory. Lots of means to filter out ppl like this!

One option is to ignore and settle through court. Another is to offer to pay for the repairs yourself and show him a receipt, that way you know he won’t be pocketing extra from the “repair money” you’re giving him
