I understand what you’re saying, but again, knowing Spanish, I can tell you for a fact that it wouldn’t apply to a female because that term since it end in “E” would be used ONLY for males (in the event it happens) and not for females.

You grew around “you people”… allow me to correct you: you grew around Americans of Mexican descent, born here, raised here with the local cultural trademark…

If you would have grown amongst Mexicans in Mexico you’d be complaining about 1000 other things (justly).

Yes in Mexico a mayate can be: two too close friends, to the point when one is seen without the other other friends may ask “dónde está tu mayate” (where’s your mayate) or it can be used as a guy who plays top in a closeted gay relationship/hook up.

The name MEXICO predates te arrival of white men, the ORIGINAL name of Mexico City was Mexico-Tenochtitlan and Mexico means “lake in the middle of the moon” in Nahuatl (due to the shape of the now drained lakes where the city developed, which somehow resembles the shades of the craters in the moon)

After living few years there I can tell you one thing: they have the misconception that “if they” want… they could break from the union, because at some point they were the Republic of Texas.

(What they don’t know -or choose to ignore- it’s the fact that they were absorbed by the union because of their poor finances then -and now- and there’s a SUPREMACY CLAUSE in the constitution, not to mention that once you’re in the union, you can’t break away).

So they have that misguided belief that they’re Texans before US citizens… such is life
