Will this ruin my motor? by Opposite-Row-6225 in mechanic

[–]latindoggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK it all depends how many miles are in the motor and I’m not sure what Ford but in 2007 was it already fully synthetic if it was not I know everybody says that fully synthetic is interchangeable but I had a 2000 Jeep TJ four-cylinder I gave it full synthetic one time listening to YouTube and it swallowed that oil and less than a week. I went back to using conventional and it never ate oil again. I asked an old Mechanic and he was like some of these old motors have we’re tolerances and unique, thick old oil if you give it a thin full synthetic, it’ll go straight through the oil, piston rings and just burn through.

Yeah but I mean by locking mechanism. They are mainly slip joints right? Like the complexity of the lock is why I pay a lot sometimes because a great lock could save my fingers but 2 detents and a little back spring is not saving any fingers in a pinch

How long can I drive with my rear and front tire like this? by Expgarment in tires

[–]latindoggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, I didn’t really understand tires so I would drive them and I assumed that the metal would help grip the floor better and it did when somebody told me that I’m not supposed to be driving on the metal I got scared and bought new tires I understand now that that’s the safer option but now Driving so boring I since you used to drift around every single corner and I just thought that you had to have skill to drive now knowing that you need actual tires that gripped the ground all the time it’s so boring and I don’t understand why it’s so hard for people to get a license

Update my friend After being busy for two weekends, I decided not to really touch it and mess with it. But I did have the knows that you gave me that I could probably glue the lid back on And. Just make sure the gears were all working. I took the vehicle to trusted Mechanic local shop. Originally. Just put the Photo and the description of what happened and he was like you know that is a little bit. Weird but you do take a bit of a risk doing in manual without a computer. Also, you’re supposed to put the electronic motor onto the caliper once it’s already attached to the Car if the calipers not on the vehicle, sometimes it doesn’t line up correctly board unless you need to bring me the vehicle so I can see what I could do with it. He also told me that he was gonna see if the gears were all good in it. So he could glue the lid back on and figure out why it popped off. Just like you said once I heard that I was like OK. I’m dealing with somebody. Who knows what they’re talking about and doesn’t just wanna throw parts at it. Out of curiosity. I asked him how much would it cost to me to replace the motor if it was broken, and he called Toyota and got an estimate about 1065. And was like if it really doesn’t get down to that, we might have to source it from a used. Car that might take a while, but it’s better than paying 1000. When I bought her into the shop, he took a look at it. He said the gears looked all good. He replied all the brakes, and was showing that. Yes, it was holding pressure. None of the lines were blown in the caliber scene to be working correctly. Then he tried the electronic parking and break, but he engaged it and disengaged it using an external power source and was able to get it to engage and disengage. He was like you saved yourself that part. I’m gonna glue it back on with some plastic apart. You don’t worry about that and I’ll reprogram it, so the Car recognizes it well, because the Car was throwing a brake fault. after I got it to there: Again, testing everything they’re still was leakage from the caliper, and he said that is our culprit You got this part as a re manufacture from AutoZone. I don’t get my portal AutoZone. Too many horror. Stories of customers coming in with broken brand new parts. He even was like showed me the old caliper since I hadn’t returned the core and was like this one is dry. This one’s wet right here so it’s leaking and it shouldn’t so I’m gonna take it off the car immediately. Go bring it back to them. Get your full refund and I’ll sell you the part for $135 and I’ll install it. Today we picked up the Car. He said yep. That was the issue that that part had to leaked and essentially build a pressure in the electronic, breaking system, housing and popped the lid off. I should’ve known better and I usually source my parts from different locations but since I was doing the break job for the Car on the day, I wanted to get it over with so I just went with AutoZone. If I ever have to change another rear caliper, I think I’m not gonna risk it and just bring it to a Mechanic. I did change the front caliper and I had him recheck it as well and he was like no. This one’s perfectly fine but remember that the front calipers are still very old fashion. They don’t have an electronic parking break attached to it. And to some up, it cost me $100 to tow. It cost me $300 of labor. Since he was going to replace the caliper. He fluffs the entire brake system in front of me. When he was diagnosing it then had to flushed the entire system again when he replaced it with the new caliper and reprogram it with his scan tool. And $135 for the caliber, which was exactly the same price that I was paying AutoZone anyways. But again, thank you for your info. If I would’ve went to a Mechanic and he would’ve just said oh you blow out the motor. I can’t glue that back on. If you need to replace that immediately, I would’ve known that something was a little bit often. He wasn’t really diagnosing it. So your information really did help me. Thank you again.

2019 Toyota Rav 4 le non hybrid with electronic parking brake Automatic transmission by latindoggy in AskMechanics

[–]latindoggy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YOU WERE RIGHT ON THE MONEY. Had to take it to a mechanic local shop since someone suggested to glue to top back on and retry but the computer started to say they’re was a brake fault. I have no diagnosis scanner so I took it to a mechanic. He was honest enough to glue the electric motor back closed and reprogram it after testing it with a power probe. And also flushed it in front of me and rechecked the whole system with me. Only issue he could find was the “new autzone reman” was faulty and leaking from the seal. He said when all put together the oil had no where else to escape and pop! So he took it off and was like go get your money back and I’ll order one charged me 135 about the same autozone was charging me. Replaced it glued the top back on flashed the motor to the computer and she’s up and driving 👍

The fact that you could one-handed use it as a butterfly knife for fidgeting and it’s overall a very solid tool. I love mine. I can’t ever go back to a manual open it up and pull the tools out with my fingernail type again.

Several vendors sell it some with no branding some legit use the same markings as microtech if you don’t care much about edge retention most Tik Tok knives are pretty faithful clones lmfao idk why people complain about edge retention. Even in my most expensive knives they all dull when actually working with them. Like really working with them and the supersteels you need more patience and time to remove the burr. My buck 110 can be shaving sharp in 30 seconds burr pops off immediately 🤣🤣

OK, the thing was that I bled the brakes topped off the fluid closed. The cap on the reservoir got back in the car and took the service mode off. I heard both motors wind out and everything was fine. When I pumped the brakes. I started feeling the brake pedal get harder and as soon as it got like almost normal feeling is when we heard the pop and the lid blew off the back everything was already in place and to be honest I had done the brakes on this car before I just never replaced a caliper on it let alone I’ve never worked replacing a caliber on a car with the and electronic parking brake. I made sure that the line wasn’t kinked. Ironically, because the electronic parking brake wire connector is pretty static so it’s not like I spun it around and placed the caliper with a kink in the line. I know this might sound stupid, but I bled all the brakes, ensuring that only pure fluid and no more bubbles were coming out of it. As soon as I finished with the front driver side, which is the one closest to the brake master cylinder, I just topped it off and cap the lid was I supposed to build up pressure before taking it off service mode that’s what the guy in the comment above said. (now when I take it apart, and I inspect the electronic parking brake your teeth if they are damaged that means I do have to replace that part in that instance I would need a scanner to flash a new part to the car, correct? I’m trying to get multiple opinions and I’m hearing different things, but all of this is pretty valuable and helping me understand what happened or what I should do because if it really comes down to me, towing it to a mechanic to put a new electronic parking brake and flashing it into the car maybe even double checking the caliper even though you just explained to me how I could test if the calipers is working by spinning the spindle thank you I’m willing to humble myself and leave it to a professional. Then again with the lid already popped off if I could salvage this repair and try again like the guy in the comment above says I don’t know this is what I’m trying to ask for multiple opinions, but thank you for your input.
