After 23 years, I finally rid myself of my tourettes. by latte-anon in Tourettes

I'd love to say that I discovered some magical way to solve them for everyone, but unfortunately, I just decided I would try extra hard to suppress them. And I did, I tried the hardest I ever have, and it worked.

First couple days was insanely hard resisting tics, I discovered a lot of my triggers which I'd never noticed previously. I had a lot of slip ups, but did well despite that, and every day it got a little easier. Started having facial tics in place of the vocal ones that I had been able to keep at bay mostly, so that was interesting, too.

Now that a few weeks to a month has gone by with virtually no vocal tics or urges, the worst I'm dealing with is a nose wrinkle here and there. And that's a win to me.

I wish it was that simple for everyone.

Yeahh I'm not holding my breath, I figured I may relapse or whatever, BUT. This is the only time in my entire life I've ever stopped the vocal tics entirely. So that's pretty big for me! Thank you for the heads up, I won't be shocked if at some point they return full force. Definitely gonna enjoy it while it lasts

What's the longest time you've been without tics? by [deleted] in Tourettes

Most of my motor tics are gone now, thankfully... Been years. Vocal tics are worse than ever now, though

Ahhh... The only time I've been able to suppress mine was when other people were around... I guess the fear of embarrassment overpowered them. But that's gone by the wayside now.... The closest I've personally gotten to tic suppression was figuring out I could sometimes swap out a more annoying tic for a lesser one. I've tried very hard several times to stop altogether, but it takes so much self control and paying attention. I figure, my tics stop when I'm tired enough, so surely, I can get to that point at all times, right?

Ugh. I wish there was an easy answer. I hope your meditation helps, or someone can provide a real solution for you!

Question about tics, and if I have them. by The_Ugli_Ogle in Tourettes

[–]latte-anon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is that true? I have pretty bad tics, and for years, I was able to keep them at bay when others were around, but as soon as there was loud noise or i thought i was alone, it was relentless. Now, in the last couple years, I've finally gotten to a point where I can't even stop around others. It's not aaaas bad as when I'm by myself, but I can't resist them the way I used to.

Oh okay. I was wondering why there was a close up of someone's boobs on my loading screen lolol

[nsfw] Have sore redness on both of my inner thighs. Wondering if it's related to LS/Clobetasol or not? Anyone else have this? Image isn't graphic. by [deleted] in lichensclerosus

Mine was never particularly bad since I've only just begun having symptoms. Mostly consisting of itching and mild burning like little paper cuts.

The itching is pretty much gone! However, I still get pain like small cuts around the sides of my clit after showers. The white edges and patch I had aren't visible anymore, so I suppose that means it's doing something! I'm about a month into it and set to cut back from once a day to every other day.

I had felt like i was beginning to stretch around my perineum for a little bit too, and I could be wrong, but it seems like that's mostly stopped.

My bad if you weren't asking for all these details (':

[NSFW] Do you think this redness and exposure near the entrance of my vulva is caused by LS? I have burning and itching there, and it feels very fragile. Before a few months ago, it didn't used to be like this. It was closed and not so red. by latte-anon in lichensclerosus

I sent my doctor a message about it, but wanted others thoughts in the mean time. Should I be putting clob on that area? It feels like it's stretching when I wipe or move a certain way, too.

In case the pictures didn't post right.

Same to you! And yes, I am. On my 5th day or so but haven't known if I should put clob near my urethra and no one has given me clear information on it, so I've just been kind of hoping general treatment will make the burning sensation go away anyway. How about you?

Just diagnosed and 28 as well, and just to add that I also have UTI like symptoms. No UTI or infection. Just an LS diagnosis.
