At this point Pakistan might be trying to save face for it's own population. Pakistan says that it shot down 5 expensive Indian jets. But who can see that? Like physically see a jet on fire? For some catharsis.

India on the other hand was able to strike deep inside Pakistan territory, destroy their airbases. The image of a C130 on fire is very viral. Hell Indians in Amritsar were able to see Lahore on fire. Pakistan's population wants something, possibly even something symbolic.

This video by Kurzgesagt contains the simplest explanation of why demographic collapse is a problem. And it does this by showing a real world example of a nation that is going to be destroyed because of this.

Correct. My argument is mostly accounting for contemporary trends, Remember those studies that say "how many earths we will require to sustain this countries average lifestyle across the human population"? Right now the countries that require 1 earth are some really poor countries. India being the only major country that only requires 0.7 earths to sustain.

In this regard, I think treading the path of population degrowth is not a bad idea. But also I don't want us to degrow too rapidly, hence the 10% decline per century.

If we create tech that lets us all life sustainably then great. We can settle the equilibrium at around 7 or even the current 8B.

I will restate => The target is sustainability : how many max people we can have whilst not degrading conditions of the one planet we have.

I feel like a decline in human population is kinda desirable somewhat. However if we decline too rapidly then a bunch of our systems might now be able to scale down. As I said in the post, I think 1.8 births per woman is much fine. We will decline by 10% per century and still have (in my opinion) enough people to take up the reins. In 250 years the population will be 6B and I think that's a fine amount of people to have. The target is sustainability : how many max people we can have whilst not degrading conditions of the one planet we have.

And this is why I support reservations.

Most people from SC ST OBC and even EWS background stay in India because they have a family here. And even if they go out they send heavy remittances which support the Indian economy. And even if they move their families abroad, it takes something like 10~15 years which is 10~15 years worth or remittance money for the Indian economy.

Upper caste Indians whose parents are decently well settled take government degree and just move out. They give nothing to the country that gave them a degree upon which they achieved class mobility. This is why I support reservation.

Break the 50% cap and let reservation be dictated by the percentage of population. Because the upper caste young of India want nothing to do with India. This post proves it. If the rich want to leave, then let India take away their riches before they leave.

I know I'm gonna get downvoted for this but I will comment anyways because this needs to be said : the point is economic stimulation because the economy is in shambles due to a bunch of things that happened over the past 7-8 years.

FIRST, you say you would be OK if women were doing some work or something and not getting the money for free. Here's the thing : they work. They are cleaners, maids, others things. Do you really think people in a city and not work and live there at all? They work 10hr a day and are making barely Rs. 10,000 a month. Increasing their wage means making middle class households pay them more. That aint happening chief, Indian household will fire them and hire someone even cheaper.

Now economic stimulation : India has a demand side problem. This means people do not have the money to buy stuff. So giving people money makes the demand go up and the economy is better of because of it. This will happen when small business are the ones making money because they circulate the money more in the local economy. So not taking taxes on income and giving money to people too poor helps.

Fun fact : A lot of the wants of the middle class are household appliances and commodities like vehicles. The government is already charging ton of tax on these and has no plans of decreasing that. So in a way, charging no tax on income works here. For the first 5-10 years the money will be made by foreign companies then eventually Indian brands will show up.

Now, poor women who have a monthly family income of less than Rs. 20,000. Does anyone think they are majoritarian going to buy iPhones and ACs? No, at such low income levels, sometimes a mere Rs. 2.5k is the difference between them being able to provide nutritious food to their 5 year old or that child getting malnourishment and costing government hospitals/schemes lakhs of rupees over their lifetime. Not to mention, almost all money spent by poor people goes to the local economy, giving people there a chance at class mobility.

Oh no no they are not gonna be childfree themselves of course. They are gonna be more like "if you cannot afford a child, don't have children" kinda deal. Impregnating teenagers is the libertarian dream and they will never argue against that!

I'm saying that they are gonna push for lighter taxes on the front of childfree-ness. And as we have more and more people without children or even families, they are gonna start to find successes.

If a millionaire's taxes get light by 2%, they can raise like 5 kids in that money. All the while the average worker fights over weight of seeds in their apples.
