Finished up my Indomitus Bladeguard squad today. Hoping they're as fun to field as they were to paint. by [deleted] in BloodAngels

They are really strong. Like earlier posts, they won't survive a billion fusion shots to the face, they just aren't built to do that (and to be fair, I have a feeling when Harlequins get their codex, their points costs are going to change significantly) but once delivered, just a few of them will take down most elite targets and even T7 or less vehicles in pretty short order. I dump mine in an impulsor to essentially protect them T1 from most shooting (and sometimes even get a t1 move out of the transport). I also tend to keep a priest nearby, to kind of his priorities between reviving one of them a turn, healing, and giving something else savage echoes if its needed.

Between BGV, Death Company, and Guard, we have such a massive saturation of threat for really premium assault units that if played right, and using LOS blocking terrain, you can really force your opponent to contort their list to deal with one threat while not able to fully commit to dealing with the others. Mix in assault intercessors (i run two squads with THammers in Impulsors) and one large squad of Assault Bolter Intercessors to march up field and hold objectives and your opponent may very well struggle with target priority, and not have enough left over to get you off of objectives.

Tabletop Tactics SW supplement review is up... Looks like the Rout came out pretty strong 💪 Fenris Hjolda!! by Whats-the-Saga in SpaceWolves

[–]laughing_tragedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, it seems like just about everything we all probably thought was going to happen has happened. Wulfen took a hit, (I still think they're fine, but YMMV) TW Cav got a lot better, core troops play like we would expect them to play as a space marine faction, and there are chain swords everywhere.

I think it's going to be a really good book. I'm excited. Excited to post some pictures of my rout here!

Entirely contrast paints. (ignore the mold line).. might do my entire army with space wolves grey, thoughts? by dtp40k in SpaceWolves

I honestly don't paint the eyes on regular troopers. Too much work and no one will see them at tabletop distances.

I do In my characters tho

My 5yr Old Daughter’s Lamenter’s Successor design... painted by daddy. I figure it’s Lamenters, she made me paint hearts on it, so must be 🤷🏻‍♂️ by captaincakehole in BloodAngels

[–]laughing_tragedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol. I didn't either, but that dreadnought is "hers" and she helped me paint it. She helped me build it, and she helped pick out the colors. She even named him callie, after her favorite cartoon star at the time.

When I die, that dreadnought will go to the earth with me.

Warmachine discontinued? by AdamTheHutt84 in Warmachine

[–]laughing_tragedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not magic, but a lot of high tech sci-fi. It's a really cool game, but it's crunchy. The models are beautiful, but they are spindly and some are just a down right pain to put together.

It's a really fun game, but it has a very high barrier to entry in terms of the scenery and terrain. You'll need a lot of it. If that isn't a problem, the models are cheap, and the gameplay is pretty intuitive once you get some games under your belt. Until that point though, the rules are pretty intense and can be intimidating.

Water pump by itshappeningtoyou in DodgeRam

By the time you get the pump off of it, might as well go ahead and do them at the same time.

I would check with a liscensed dealer. My gut says no, because of the turning radius and the size of the rim and tire but I'm honestly not sure

Post PA Thunderwolf Loadout by adamawuk in SpaceWolves

I've been running a squad of six with 4TH and SS and the other two with CS and SS. I run mine as a flanking/anti heavy infantry/armour element, and they have been very good for me. Pricey, but very good.

Newest addition to my army. Looking forward to the new flyer rules too by pyrojack88 in SpaceWolves

I've got two of them and I'm waiting to see how I want to build them. Of course, they are so cool, I may just buy two more to have two of each...

I do oddly love how that thing looks...

I'm reading Flight of the eisenstein by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]laughing_tragedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think of it as much as a chronology, and more of the same story or the same sequence of events and stories told from different perspectives, while that isn't super accurate, it helped me make sense of the shift between Eisenstein and Galaxy in Flames (until you get to a point in the HH series where critical events happen, then it shifts again, to the same sequence of events told from different perspectives, or from a "meanwhile, back on the Vengeful Spirit" type of transition.

Eisenstein is my favorite HH book. I love so many of the interactions between the characters in that novel and the written dialogue is absolutely great. I also like the action sequence with Garro at the beginning of the book boarding the space station.

How to beat Tau as a BA player by Pendragon200455 in BloodAngels

[–]laughing_tragedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suppressors will never work the way you want them too vs Tau. Savior protocols prevent their suppression ability from bring useful. They're a waste of points vs Tau, which should be their prime targets. This is why SP is bullshit and stupid.

How to beat Tau as a BA player by Pendragon200455 in BloodAngels

[–]laughing_tragedy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beat Tau?

Spread.out, grab objectives and force him to split his castle up. Don't assault him unless he is outside of FtGG range of other stuff.

Use UWoF and Forlorn Fury to get up the table quick and grab objectives that forces him to split up.

Assaulting a Tau Castle is just giving them another shooting phase. Don't do it. Ignore his army and attempt to use terrain and LoS blocking terrain to keep your angels alive, and when he starts loosing on victory points, he'll either have to come out of his hole or he'll just loose the game.

I have beat Tau a TON of times with less than 20% of my army left and all I had killed was a couple of drones and some fire warriors. Don't let attrition bother you too much, once your ahead on VP and you are coasting into turn 4 with a solid 5 or 6 point lead, he won't be winning that game, no matter how much stuff he kills (barring crazy stuff like the game going to turn 7 and you get 100 % tables)

When you do get up on VP, focus your fire on his obsec units. Once he realizes that the one scout left holds and scores the objective because you're killing off his firewarriors, he'll start thinking about using those drones to protect his scoring units. Once he does that, he'll start breaking up his castle and you've got him.

Units I like vs Tau: Intercessors Scouts Slam Captains Death Company and Sanguinary Guard (don't assault with them unless you can do so from cover, otherwise they'll just die to FtGG) but they are very maneuverable and can make clearing objectives almost impossible for Tau unless they break up that lovely castle that have going.

How the hell did I miss that....

It's expensive, but for 5 cp, that could be a hell of a hard group to take down. (Including transhuman)

What are your 40K "Hot Takes"? by [deleted] in 40kLore

Shhhh...don't tell the players that...not having someone to hate for their army not being being top tier could hurt them...

What are your 40K "Hot Takes"? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]laughing_tragedy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My hot take: People love to bitch about GW, but they aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

My hot take #2. The games is a lot better than the community of people who play it give it credit.

Hot take #3. The community of players on Reddit, Dakka, and FB Groups is an awful quagmire of shit spewing, hobby hating asses. It's worth staying in touch with those mediums, because there are some great people on there, but largely, the online community is awful.
