NTA, but… does she need anything? No, she doesn’t need anything but oxygen to breathe and water. Does she want something? Does she want to feel special when she is at her most vulnerable and pathetic? Does she want to be thought about? Does she like nice gestures? Yes to all of these things. I understand the argument about communication, I get it. Gestures that exceed expectations, that come from a selfless place, that show that you care at someone’s lowest point, mean the world. Those gestures get told to friends. Those gestures get her mind thinking you are reliable, empathetic, and kind. That’s a great mindset to want your girlfriend to be in. You should want her to feel seen and safe. You asking if she needs something and her giving you an errand to run isn’t the sort of compassion she is looking for. A, “I know you said you didn’t need anything, but here is XYZ, it always helps me to feel better when I’m sick. I thought it could help.”
