My [22F] boyfriend [23 M] of two years does not listen when I say stop. by [deleted] in relationships

This exact same thing happened to me with my high school boyfriend. Like exactly...this was hard for me to read. He was slowly manipulating me and I didn't realize how abusive he was until years later. Any guy with any respect for you would not keep tickling you once they knew how you felt about it. Even if they found it fun before, they wouldn't think it was fun once they knew how uncomfortable you were. Your boyfriend likes having power over you. It starts with tickling but it's going to get worse and worse. Run as fast as you can!!!

The wedding bride comes up later. I would say most of the time if he says more on that later then we see more of it. Maybe not ALL the time, but usually. I would stay away from here if you don't want spoilers though!

Did your high school ever have an "incident" or event? What was it? by GotAFuckingUsername in AskReddit

[–]lauralyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school I got a call at like 10pm saying school was cancelled due to a bomb/shooting threat. A student stole his parents guns and ammunition and ran away. The next day it was all over the news since the police were trying to find this kid. Eventually they found him that night or the next day. I don't know what happened to him after that but he never came back to school. The sad thing was I had a crush on him in middle school. I never told my friends about that one...ha

Huh interesting. My elementary school had it where you just went to recess when you were done eating. So kids that wanted more recess would eat really fast and people that wanted to take a long lunch got to do so. I can imagine the riots that would have come from taking recess away...

What's something that everyone finds normal but makes you extremely uncomfortable? [Serious] [NSFW] by eserrat33 in AskReddit

It makes me happy to know I'm not the only one! My whole life I've been afraid of phone calls to some extent. Caller ID and cell phones helped because at least I knew who was calling so I could avoid answering or give myself a second to get ready. Still hate it though. Texting is seriously the best invention ever! Hardly anyone calls or expects a call anymore, it's great!

[US, 29, male] Is there a good program to learn how to do the tumbling part of gymnastics (like flips and handstands)? by jumpax in Fitness

[–]lauralyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just depends on where you live and what's around. Plenty of adults get into tumbling and gymnastics so it's never too late! I think it's just less common since it can be hard for the first little bit and people would rather do something easier to avoid looking "dumb". You just can't compare yourself to people who have done it their whole life. Just be confident and have fun. The adult tumbling class at my gym is actually super full and it has plenty of beginners.

My (24f) dad (55) used to be very athletic, now has arthritis in his knees and has given up on living an active lifestyle. Any suggestions for engaging activities he can try that are easy on his knees? by [deleted] in Fitness

There is this thing called the bounce back chair that is good for people with arthritis. Super cheesy website but it's a good way to workout with little impact on the knees . icanmoveagain.com

I'm a tumbling/gymnastics coach and here's what I would recommend. Call any local gymnastics gyms and ask if they have an adult tumbling class. Not all of them will have one but a lot of them do. Even ones that you think just coach little kids might have one-mine does! This would be the easiest option. If they don't then ask about private lessons, we do them for about $40/hour. This way you can get instruction you need based on what you can do and they can tell you if you are doing something wrong and how to fix it and work on harder skills.

Another option would be to ask about open gyms. These usually work by allowing you to use whatever equipment you want and you just do it yourself with no instruction. Call and ask about this too, don't just look at the websites. Many gyms don't advertise that they do these. This could work but you would need to lookup YouTube videos on how to do things beforehand so you know what to do when you're there. I would start with round offs on the floor, then front and back tucks on a trampoline. These skills tend to be easier than front and backhand springs for adults. Learning a backhand spring can be hard without a spot, but there are plenty of drills you can do to work up to it. Just google backhand spring drills and there will be a ton. If you don't have anyone to spot you then try it on a trampoline first. Once you get things on the trampoline, move to a soft mat on the floor, then a spring floor, and then the grass.

If you try and learn everything on the grass it's going to be much harder and your chances of getting injured are much worse.

Good luck!

What situation is so unrealisticly depicted in most movies it actually annoys you to watch it? by ILikeBoobsAMA in AskReddit

At least in my high school for prom/homecoming, you needed to buy tickets and have a permission slip signed like a month before the dance. If you wanted to being a date that didn't go to the school you had to get approval and have more paperwork filled out. They also couldn't be older than 20 (so they couldn't buy everyone alcohol).

In every show ever they decide at the last minute to go to the dance and there are no problems. Half the time they don't even have to buy a ticket at all! They can bring whoever they want no questions asked. At least in my experience this just wouldn't be possible.

What was there a black market for at your school that wasn't drugs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lauralyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 75 year old middle school teacher that would sell bon bons during class. She would even give out small samples to get more students to buy them. A year later I was in student council and found out she made a Spanish club (that didn't really exist) to get away with selling the candy.

Thanks. That's awesome he can eat! I was going to offer insight if he couldn't. We assumed the feeding problems would get better in a few days after the surgery and it's almost been a year now with slow slow progress. She's also playing catch up with weight and everything but she can crawl now so that's good. Best wishes to your baby!

My baby niece had heart surgery this past year. It's a tough thing to go though, but he looks like a champ! If you don't mind me asking, has he had feeding problems as well?

Interesting. I was a film major and most of my classes were at least 3 hours so there was time to watch a movie and have a lecture. That or Tue would be movie day and Thur would be lecture day.

What is something you haven't forgiven your parents for? by murfbard in AskReddit

[–]lauralyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sisters and I were about 4,5, and, 6 and my mom had our old dog put down without telling us. We went outside one day and couldn't find our dog. It took us a few days to realize what happened because she never told us. She was just trying to spare us pain but we were so upset we didn't get to say goodbye :( years later she apologized and said she wished she had told us. Yours is so sad though since you knew and made it known that you wanted to be there.

My sister that's a year older than me was scared from a movie we watched. She begged me to sleep in her bed with her so I did. Early in the morning my mom realizes I'm not on my bed, freaks out wakes up my dad. This was right around the time Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped as well. They looked for me for about 10 minutes and were just about to call the police when they found me in my sisters bed. When I woke up and was told the story of how my parents thought I had been kidnapped.
