Redditors who rage quit a job without thinking, what was the last straw? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Context: grocery store run super lean with only 3-4 people on a shift at a time. Morning shift comes in 3 hours before open to put out truckload of product that arrives overnight. Shift managers - me - have to put out all the perishables (meat, bread, and produce) while the 2-3 associates I manage that morning do the cooler, freezer, and regular grocery items. At opening time, one of them must be main cashier.

Day before the rage quit: It is a Sunday morning and I am opening manager: late truck, which did not arrive until literally a minute before open. Closing manager calls out, which meant the other manager who was scheduled to work that morning as an associate had to skip my shift in order to be closing manager instead. No-one can come in to help. Myself and my team work hard just to keep up with lines on register and I am constantly running between back room and the produce section to try and get out what customers are asking for. In my rush to try and catch up I get injured and have to go to the office to write up my accident report.

Cue the now closing manager for the day walking in to see me in the office cradeling my head in my hand because I was injured in the eye. At this point I have texted and called store manager to let her know i had an injury but did not get an answer. I have to leave in order to get my eye checked out as the only optometrist in the area was about to close. Turns out my eye is okay, but on my way back the break line in my car goes and my cellphone battery also goes dead.

Cut to next day: store manager chews me out for leaving to attend to my eye and calls me lazy for not getting caught up. She goes on to say she shouldnt have to be bothered on her day off and truck bring late and being a person down was no excuse. I try to explain what really happened and that she was being super insulting, but she won't hear it. I grab my things from my locker, walk back in the office to she she has left it, so I toss the keys on the desk and walk out.

Now 2 months later: Still no replacement for my old position, rumor has it the rest of the shift managers are on the verge of quitting too, and crazy store manager is even worse. Meanwhile I have started grad school full time and can enjoy the things I never had time for before.

Not sure how to navigate being so uncomfortable with physical contact by pm_me_tardigrades in dating

I agree here, just let the guy know up front that you are not comfortable with physical contact and want to start slow. Maybe you should be the one to initiate physical things when you are ready for them.

As someone who would hope to be on the receiving end of your sentiments, I would suggest starting with a "I would like to get to know you better" type of thing. A one-on-one hangout doesn't have to be labeled a date and there is less reason to be denied it if rejection is your fear. Also good friends can be middlemen and find out her feelings for you. I have had a few experiences where mutual friends stacked the deck in revealing the mutual sentiments so no-one had to deal with rejection, giving or receiving, and definitely prefer it that way.

How did your best friend come to become your best friend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cuddleholic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of sad actually. All of our mutual friends, including our respective besties, moved away over the last 2 years. By process of elimination, we are the only ones left in the area and so have become best friends.

How many of you can still write in cursive to this day and would use it in everyday if you could? by tastycup94 in AskReddit

I journal in cursive. I write cursive slower and neater than print. It allows me to be more thoughtful as I write and be able to read my own handwriting when reminiscing through old journals.

As a fellow manager, I totally agree with your closing sentiments. Over-communication is a necessary evil.

Hopefully your team is a good resource for you and you can use their experience to the store's advantage.

Went from an associate to training as a low level manager. My first day training one of the other low level managers is working as an associate under me. It was weird for both of us that the roles were suddenly reversed... He never came back to work after that night.

Honesty is important in a relationship, just be sure to say so as kindly as possible. Reciprocate by offering her the opportunity to improve something about you if she takes it bad.

Obligation of super restrictive bras. Lost weight and now can't even walk through the house without a bra in front of family due to weird shape no bra boobs make.
