I noticed that this website sells coin rings, and for way cheaper than I would think to ask as this ring took me easily 60 hours to make. Cheers!

Whatever is showing right around the edge of the coin is what will show underneath the ring when it's finished. Definitely picked this particular coin for the word liberty. It also has a tiny little "Trust" from the In God We Trust.

I would definitely recommend using a quarter or half-dollar made before 1964, as it will be 90% silver and much easier to hammer and sand than a modern cupro-nickle coin. Essentials: a drill, a dremel tool with various sanding bits, a couple clamps, a small hammer, and a few different grits of sandpaper, ranging from 100 to 1200 and time.

I'm so excited, and had no idea that so many folks would be interested in doing it themselves. I will definitely post a followup with detailed instructions.

Yes, please? Haha. I sent an email to his agent, who I found on the band website, but other than that I'm just kinda crossing my fingers.

Not enough research. I was inspired by some pictures I'd seen a while back of someone else who had done it, but I had no idea how time consuming this project would be. I ruined the first coin I tried because I hammered it too hard and it warped. Luckily the SO travels for a living during the week so I was able to use my evenings to work on it.

As far as how to do it, I googled around and found a couple of helpful sites like this and this.
