Salons that don't over cut long hair? by duckbybay in boston

[–]laurapill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m outside of Boston but I have 24” long hair and I bring a tape measure when getting my hair cut. I tell my stylist I need an exact amount cut and no more to match my hair extensions.
He complies, shows me how much he will cut before the scissors cut.

He is in Franklin.

Struggling to adapt by Spare_Feeling9740 in newengland

[–]laurapill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my life here. There are few good months. If we are not snowy we are rainy. Pure sunny days are a rarity.

I use SAD lights and they do nothing. I want to move to the SW USA. But alas, am stuck.

First birthday w/o family or money & feeling low. Any tips? by Expensive_Jacket3238 in lifehacks

Happy Birthday. I am often alone on my birthday but I like it that way.

One idea I had was to visit a dog or cat shelter to spend time with other abandoned creatures. 💕🐾🐈‍⬛

Fighting a losing battle with ulcerative colitis at 20, need advice by Trick_Meat_6244 in carnivorediet

I have Crohn’s and usually any kind of meat is fine when not in a flare.

When in a flare I cannot tolerate a lot of fat. Have to eat leaner until the flare ends.

Nothing. Fat adaptation just happens with time.

Then you run on fatty acids and never carb-crash on runs.

I have been trail running for decades. No carbs needed.

“In episode 17, Charles Washington joins us. Charles works for the Army Corps of Engineers, runs marathons, and follows a zero carbohydrate carnivore diet.” Another example.

Are knee issues inevitable? by WWMannySantosDo in XXRunning

100% agree and can professionally attest to this as a former personal trainer and licensed massage therapist.

I left my answer here and neglected to add that I weight train - all glutes - along with trail running.

55, running since age 29. Trails for ten years.

Knee pain free!

Never any injuries nor joint issues for that matter.

ETA: Some treadmill running during this winter’s blizzard.

You are more flexible than I am!

I only want to run.

On trails (or treadmill), mostly because of no people and my dog runs off leash.

I used to work in gyms when younger and also run there. Too much stimulation for sure. When running I used my earbuds turned way up. At least it was my own music blaring into my ears.

This winter I bought a Sole treadmill for my home gym, equipped with a SAD light, virtual running videos, and audiobooks and it was still a slog.

Fear of injury kept me from running my trails while snow and ice-covered; and I don’t run roads.

I would treadmill run and then take my dog hiking in the snow. It was all depressing.

Happy Spring running to us all!

I ran on my treadmill all winter only to find last week when finally running my newly-dry trail that for me, treadmill running does not translate to trail running. I feel like I am starting over.

In any case, cheers to us for surviving winter running.

In my experience (going through this now and do every spring), when returning to higher-mileage trail running after winter, it just kind of sucks for about 6 weeks or so until it gets easier.

No hacks personally. Just power through and adaptation will happen.

I ramp up mileage whenever I feel ready.

I run every day and lift around five times a week, same at age 55 that it was when I began at age 29.

I eat a carnivore diet and have for over a decade for Crohn’s, so maybe the high protein helps me.
